Shak Barrels for it All

Niveau 9 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Dan Shak bet 45,000, about the size of the pot, from under the gun on {a-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}. One player folded on the button but Steffen Sontheimer continued out of the big blind. "Goose" then check-called another 100,000 on the {6-Clubs} turn, bringing a {9-Spades} river. He checked again and Shak jammed for 234,000.

"Set, Dan?" Sontheimer wondered as he tossed in a time extension.

Eventually, he folded.

Winter Doubles Through Bonomo

Niveau 9 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Sean Winter
Sean Winter

Sean Winter was all in for about 80,000 in early position and got called by Justin Bonomo on the button. Winter tabled his {5-Diamonds}{5-Spades} and was crushed by {j-Hearts}{j-Clubs} but didn't seem at all worried, smiling and rubbing his hands together in seeming anticipation of victory.

Sure enough, the {k-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} flop delivered a set and the {5-Clubs} quads on the turn.

Winter Eliminates Mateos

Niveau 9 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Sean Winter's hot run continued as he just busted Adrian Mateos. According to a player at the table, Mateos jammed for about 60,000 over a Winter open and his {k-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} was creamed by Winter's {k-}{k-}. However, Mateos flopped all the equity he could ask for with a gutshot and a flush draw before bricking out.

Michael Soyza also busted from that table.

Davies Runs Into a Set

Niveau 9 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Seth Davies
Seth Davies

Seth Davies raised to 14,000 in middle position and Steffen Sontheimer flat-called from the small blind. Both players checked the {a-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} flop and the {5-Spades} landed on the turn.

Sontheimer checked again and Davies fired out a pot-sized bet of 38,000. Sontheimer called and the {j-Hearts} completed the board. A third check from Sontheimer led to a bet of 85,000 from Davies. Sontheimer check-raised all in for 220,000, slightly more than what Davies had in front of him.

Davies burned through time extension after time extension, four of them in total, before eventually flicking in a single chip to call. Sontheimer rolled over {5-Hearts}{5-Clubs} for a set of fives while Davies showed {a-Spades}{10-Diamonds} before exiting the tournament area.

Negreanu Holds True to His Word

Niveau 10 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu

Daniel Negreanu opened to 18,000 from under the gun and was called by Nick Petrangelo in the cutoff and Jason Koon in the big blind. The flop came {j-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} and Koon started with a check.

"I raised preflop, right?" Negreanu asked the dealer. "I guess that means I have to bet." He followed up with a bet of 15,000 and Petrangelo was the only one to call. "I think I'm going three streets with this one, Nicky."

The turn brought the {a-Clubs} and Negreanu fired out another 40,000 but Petrangelo still called. The river brought the {k-Diamonds} and Negreanu moved all in after eyeing up Petrangelo's stack of 79,000.

"I don't think I'll sleep if I fold this one," Petrangelo said as he made the call. Negreanu flipped over {3-Spades}{3-Diamonds} for a set of threes while Petrangelo held {k-Clubs}{j-Clubs} for two pair.

Pollak Pays Badziakouski

Niveau 10 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

The blinds checked to Mikita Badziakouski on a completed board of {j-Spades}{9-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{9-Spades}{2-Diamonds} and he bet 60,000 from the button. Small blind Jean-Noel Thorel mucked but Benjamin Pollak tossed in a call after thinking briefly.

Badziakouski announced a nine and tabled {q-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} to take the pot.

At another table, a super short-stacked Matthias Eibinger went bust.

Thorel Eliminates Antonius

Niveau 10 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Patrik Antonius shoved from second position and Jean-Noel Thorel isolated with another all-in jam on his left.

Antonius' {k-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} was live against {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}. He flopped a leading pair but got hammered by the turn and busted as the board ran out {k-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{a-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}.

"Good game," he said on his way out.

Strong Start for Hunichen

Niveau 10 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Chris Hunichen came into the day with just over a starting stack but he is making waves early on through the first couple of levels on Day 2. The action was left to Justin Bonomo in the small blind and Hunichen in the big blind who each put in 28,000 preflop. The dealer fanned the flop of {q-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} and Bonomo check-called a bet of 38,000 from Hunichen.

The turn brought the {j-Spades} and Bonomo checked again. Hunichen dropped in a bet of 95,000 and Bonomo stuck around to see the {3-Spades} on the river. He quickly checked one more time and Hunichen counted out a bet of 225,000. Bonomo went into the tank for a couple of minutes, using three time extensions before announcing a call. Hunichen tabled {k-Clubs}{q-Clubs} and Bonomo sent his cards to the muck.

Hunichen has increased his stack to over one million chips through the first 90 minutes and sits among the leaders now.

Badziakouski Eliminates Pollak

Niveau 10 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Mikita Badziakouski opened for 17,000 on the button and Benjamin Pollak ripped in for 156,000 in the big blind after thinking briefly. Badziakouski double-checked his holding and then dropped in some chips.

Mikita Badziakouski: {a-Hearts}{9-Hearts}
Benjamin Pollak: {6-Spades}{5-Spades}

The {3-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{a-Diamonds} was an awful flop for the Frenchman, but he had a pulse after the {5-Diamonds} turn. The {2-Diamonds} river didn't help him, though.
