Bad Time to Shove

Niveau 6 : Blinds 300/600, 600 ante

On a heads-up turn of {8-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{3-Spades}, Charles Lehr made it 12,000 to go and the action was on Young Sik Eum.

After a few moments, he announced he was all in, covering Lehr. However, Lehr appeared unconcerned and quickly made the call and the cards were tabled.

Charles Lehr: {3-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}
Young Sik Eum: {a-Clubs}{9-Clubs}

Lehr was well ahead with his turned set of treys, but he still needed to fade Eum's nut flush draw. The river bricked out with the {9-Hearts} and Lehr secured the pot for a big double-up.

"Ahh, nice hand, I should have shoved the flop," Eum said as he tapped the table. He was left with only 8,500 while Lehr rocketed up to 100,000.

Saout Doubles with Aces

Niveau 6 : Blinds 300/600, 600 ante

There were multiple preflop raises that ended up with Justin Skamanis shoving his big stack into the middle. Antoine Saout called off his stack of 26,000 in the small blind and Mike Dentale had to make a decision for his stack in the big blind. Dentale eventually laid his hand down and the two remaining hands were tabled.

Antoine Saout: {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}
Justin Skamanis: {j-Spades}{j-Clubs}

The flop came {a-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{6-Hearts} and both players flopped a set, leaving Saout with a big lead. The turn was the {k-Hearts} to provide some chop outs but the {10-Diamonds} on the river ensured Saout of a double-up.

With a little over 7,000 in the middle and the board reading {9-Spades}{7-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{10-Hearts}, Espen Jorstad checked from middle position. Michael Uguccioni tossed in a bet of 3,600 on the button.

Jorstad check-raised to 8,800 and Uguccioni paid him off. Jorstad flipped over {a-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} for a rivered straight and was awarded a healthy pot.

Russo Doubles Up

Niveau 5 : Blinds 200/500, 500 ante

Joel Gola had made it 4,000 to go preflop and Conrad Simpson made the call, but then Frank Russo shipped it in for a total of 25,000.

Gola quickly got out of the way, and now the action was back on Simpson, who was teetering on his decision.

"Ahh screw it, I'm only calling because it doesn't even matter," Simpson said as he made the call and the cards were tabled, with Russo at risk.

Frank Russo: {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}
Conrad Simpson: {5-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}

"Come on, baby, do it for me," Russo pleaded, and he got his wish as the flop came out {2-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{k-Spades} to give him the lead with a pair of kings.

"Ok, no five, no five!" Russo told the dealer, and the runoiut was pure for him as it came {8-Hearts}{j-Spades} to give him the victory for a double up.

"I'm back! Oh, y'all are really in trouble now that I've got chips!" Russo laughed as he stacked his newly acquired chips.

PN Pod Mori Eskandani

In the latest PokerNews Podcast episode of 2023, Chad Holloway and Connor Richards handle things while Jesse Fullen is in Australia. They discuss Mike Postle’s sudden reappearance in the poker world after making a final table at the Million Dollar Heater at Beau Rivage in Mississippi, while also talking about the slowroll and needle that accompanied his bust out.

They try to balance that story with a heart-warming one where Johnnie “Johnnie Vibes” Moreno put a bartender into the MSPT Sycuan Main Event, with the recreational player going on to finish in fourth place for $40,000!

Other stories discussed include WSOP.com Player of the Years, Lon McEachern and Daniel Lowery winning WSOP Circuit gold rings, and early winners from the PokerGO Cup.

Speaking of which, PokerGO’s Mori Eskandani joins the show as this week’s guest. The Poker Hall of Famer talks 2023 World Series of Poker (WSOP) preparations, who came close to challenging Jason Koon on High Stakes Duel III (HSD), plus when we can expect the next HSD match to take place. He also discussed new developments to this year’s PokerGO Tour (PGT) and shared memories from the days when the Mirage was the hot spot for poker in Vegas.

Sitbon Holds the Bigger Pair

Niveau 5 : 200/500, 500 ante

Daewoong Song raised to 1,100 in early position and Julien Sitbon three-bet to 5,500 from the hijack. The action folded back to Song who called to see a flop of {q-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}.

Both players checked and the {3-Hearts} landed on the turn. Song led out with a bet of 4,000 and Sitbon stuck around for the {3-Clubs} on the river. Song tossed in another bet of 4,500 and Sitbon called. Song showed {6-Spades}{6-Diamonds} but it was no match for the {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs} of Sitbon.
