It was another beautiful day for poker at the luxurious Baha Mar Resort in the Bahamas and after just under six levels of play on Day 2 of PokerStars Caribbean Adventure Event #25: $50,000 8-Handed, Jonathan Jaffe of the United States emerged victorious for a payout of $194,814.

This event attracted six runners with two needing a reentry on Day 1 to create a prize pool of $389,664, with the top three players paid. Jaffe came into the day as the chip leader and kept his foot on the pedal throughout.

When asked how it felt to win his first PCA title, he replied, “It feels really good to finally get a trophy, although I did win a Heads-Up Battleship Tournament back in the day when we put our laptops together.”

Jaffe isn't really seen much these days in the live scene, and he explained why…

“Yeah, I really haven't been playing much lately, I've just been focusing mainly on private coaching.”

Day 2 Action

Only six players returned for Day 2 play, and although more entrants were expected, registration ended up closing early due to the bustout of Stephen Chidwick After losing the majority of his stack the previous hand to Kisacikoglu, Chidwick got it in with king-three against Davies’ king-ten and was sent to the rail after failing to connect.

Mikita Badziakouski was next to exit in fifth as he ran his ace-three suited into Davies’ ace-king and failed to improve.

After a couple of big hands, Jaffe regained the chip lead and began taking control of the table, putting pressure on the smaller stacks. He then eliminated Daniel Dvoress on the money bubble when he turned trips with his king-nine against Dvoress’ ace-seven.

Jaffe’s next victim was Davies, who decided to get it in with his pocket sevens after being faced with an open-jam from Jaffe. Jaffe was behind with his king-five, but a king appeared on the flop to give him the lead. The board bricked out for Davies and he was eliminated in third.

Heads-up play between Jaffe and Kisacikoglu only lasted for half a level before Kisacikoglu check-raised all in on the turn with a straight and flush draw while Jaffe had a pair of queens. Another queen on the river was the nail in the coffin for Kisacikoglu and he was eliminated in second as Jaffe was announced the winner.

“The $25,000 should be starting soon, right?” the players asked, eager to get back in the mix.

That wraps up coverage of the $50,000 8-Handed, but be sure to check out the PokerNews live reporting team's coverage of Day 4 of the $10,300 PCA Main Event and other events here at the 2023 PCA.

Niveau 16 : Blinds 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Orpen Kisacikoglu
Orpen Kisacikoglu

Jonathan Jaffe limped in on the button and Orpen Kisacikoglu checked his option from the big blind.

The flop came {10-Spades}{3-Hearts}{2-Hearts} and both players checked to the {q-Diamonds} turn. Kisacikoglu checked again and Jaffe bet out 25,000. Kisacikoglu took a few seconds before moving all in for close to 180,000 and Jaffe snap-called.

Orpen Kisacikoglu: {6-Hearts}{5-Hearts}
Jonathan Jaffe: {q-Spades}{4-Hearts}

Jaffe turned top pair but would need to dodge the flush draw and gut shot for Kisacikoglu to secure the victory. The river fell the {q-Clubs} and the trip queens sent Kisacikoglu out in runner-up position.

Jonathan Jaffe moved all in from the button, and after small blind Orpen Kisacikoglu got out of the way, the decision was then on Seth Davies in the big blind.

"Man I don't know, I'm wired up," Davies said, using a term that means he has a pocket pair.

"Alright, let's do it," he finally said after using his last time bank and made the call, which put him at risk.

Seth Davies: {7-Spades}{7-Hearts}
Jonathan Jaffe: {k-Diamonds}{5-Spades}

Davies started out ahead with his pocket sevens, but the flop of {k-Spades}{q-Spades}{10-Hearts} was not his friend as it gave Jaffe the lead with top pair. The board completed with {5-Clubs}{q-Hearts} to give Jaffe the win and Davies was eliminated in third place for a payout of $77,950.

Daniel Dvoress
Daniel Dvoress

Jonathan Jaffe open-jammed from the small blind, which put pressure on big blind Daniel Dvoress, who went into the tank.

After using his remaining timebanks, Dvoress made the call, putting himself at risk.

Daniel Dvoress: {a-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}
Jonathan Jaffe: {k-Spades}{9-Diamonds}

Dvoress was ahead going into the hand, but the flop of {9-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} put Jaffe in the lead with his pair of nines. The turn {9-Clubs} sealed Dvoress' fate and the {q-Spades} completed the board.

With Dvoress' elimination, the remaining players are now in the money with a guaranteed payout of $77,950.

Jonathan Jaffe
Jonathan Jaffe

Daniel Dvoress opened to 20,000 under the gun, but was then three-bet by Jonathan Jaffe in the big blind. Dvoress made the call and the two went heads-up to a flop of {2-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{4-Spades}.

Jaffe continued with a super small sizing of 11,000 into the 116,000 pot and Dvoress proceeded to call.

On the turn {a-Clubs}, both players decided to check and went straight to the {8-Hearts} on the river.

Jaffe checked and Dvoress bet 66,000, but then Jaffe check-raised him to 220,000 and Dvoress quickly mucked. Jaffe was pushed the substantial pot to boost him into the chip lead with 460,000.

Kisacikoglu Scores First Pot; Chidwick Sent to The Rail By Davies

Niveau 11 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Stephen Chidwick
Stephen Chidwick

In a heads-up pot with 30,000 in the middle on a flop showing {a-Clubs}{7-Spades}{6-Diamonds}, Stephen Chidwick bet 4,000 from under the gun and Orpen Kisacikoglu made the call in the cutoff.

On the {7-Clubs} turn Chidwick kept up the aggression with a bet of 11,000 and Kisacikoglu came along. The {3-Diamonds} completed the board and Chidwick slowed down with a check. Kisacikoglu took a moment before sliding forward 21,000, covering the 18,000 remaining for Chidwick, who quickly folded.

On the next hand Seth Davies opened the button to 12,000 and only Chidwick called in the big blind. The flop fanned out {k-Spades}{j-Hearts}{5-Hearts} and Chidwick moved all in for his last 6,000, which Davies called.

Stephen Chidwick: {k-Diamonds}{3-Spades}
Seth Davies: {k-Clubs}{10-Hearts}

Both players flopped top pair but the ten kicker for Davies was well out in front. The board ran out {2-Clubs}{10-Hearts} and the two pair for Davies secured the pot and sent Chidwick to the rail.
