Stefan Schillhabel Eliminated in 3rd Place ($306,000)

Niveau 24 : 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante
Stefan Schillhabel - 3rd Place
Stefan Schillhabel - 3rd Place

In the hand after Steffen Sontheimer fell in fourth place, the last remaining German in the field, Stefan Schillhabel, followed him out the door in third.

It happened when a preflop raising war resulted in Schillhabel getting his stack of 1.6 million all in against Nick Schulman. It was a cooler.

Schillhabel: {q-Spades}{q-Hearts}
Schulman: {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs}

Schillhabel was in desperate need of a third queen, but the lady stood him up as the board ran out a dry {2-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{8-Clubs}. Schillhabel will take home $306,000 for his third-place finish.

Matt Hyman with the River Bet

Niveau 24 : 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante

In one of the first hands of heads-up play, Matt Hyman raised the button to 145,000 holding the {a-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} and Nick Schulman defended with the {Q-Hearts}{5-Spades}.

The two proceeded to check both the {10-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{j-Spades} flop and {7-Diamonds} turn, and then Schulman checked for a third time on the {2-Spades} river. Hyman bet 200,000 and Schulman folded.

Two Outer on River Flips Chip Counts

Niveau 24 : 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante

Nick Schulman raised to 125,000 with the {a-Clubs}{j-Hearts} and Matt Hyman popped it to 460,000 with the {6-Hearts}{6-Clubs}. Schulman responded by moving all in and Hyman wasted little time in calling off for 2.19 million.

The {10-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds}{a-Spades} flop gave Schulman trips, and suddenly Hyman was looking for a six to stay alive. The {Q-Clubs} turn was a blank, and Schulman was one card away from winning it all. Unfortunately for him, the river was the {6-Spades} and Hyman hit his miracle card to double.

Back and Forth

Niveau 25 : 35,000/70,000, 70,000 ante

Nick Schulman won a couple pots to reclaim the chip lead, but he just lost a couple to give it back to Matt Hyman. In fact, the counts are right where they were when Hyman spiked the two outer to double.

In a recent hand, there was 560,000 in the pot and a board reading {9-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{3-Spades}{j-Spades}{q-Clubs} when Hyman, who held the {10-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}, coyly checked his rivered straight and Schulman, who had the {a-Spades}{q-Hearts} in the hole, bet 450,000. Hyman opted to just call and took down the pot.

Matt Hyman Opening Up a Lead

Niveau 25 : 35,000/70,000, 70,000 ante

Nick Schulman raised to 150,000 with the {3-Clubs}{3-Spades} and Matt Hyman called with the {9-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}. The latter then check-called a bet of {10-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{q-Spades} flop and action repeated itself on the {6-Clubs} turn.

Both players then checked the {8-Clubs} river and Hyman won the pot.

Nick Schulman Stays Alive

Niveau 25 : 35,000/70,000, 70,000 ante

Matt Hyman opened with a raise and then called when Nick Schulman moved all in for 1.48 million.

Hyman: {a-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}
Schulman: {k-Hearts}{10-Hearts}

The {3-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} flop made things interesting as Schulman flopped top pair but Hyman had a pair and flush draw. Unfortunately for Hyman, he couldn't seal the deal as the {5-Hearts} bricked the turn followed by the {k-Clubs} on the river.
