The Sun is Shining for Dvoress

Niveau 12 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante
Daniel Dvoress and Nick Petrangelo
Daniel Dvoress and Nick Petrangelo

Liwei Sun raised to 5,500 from under the gun and Paul-Francois Tedeschi three-bet to 13,800 from one seat over. The action folded around to Daniel Dvoress in the big blind, who four-bet to 31,000. Sun moved all in for 43,000 and Tedeschi folded, while Dvoress called in a heartbeat.

Liwei Sun: {K-Spades}{K-Clubs}
Daniel Dvoress: {A-Spades}{A-Hearts}

The board came {Q-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{9-Hearts}{5-Spades} and Sun headed to the rail.

That hand boosted the stack of Dvoress to around 400,000, but it would get even better. Only a few minutes later, another chair was vacated and Dan Smith and Daniel Dvoress confirmed that Sofia Lovgren ran with pocket jacks into the pocket queens of the Canadian to ran out of chips as well.

Luo Squeezes, Quoss Survives All-in

Niveau 12 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

It’s getting to do or die time for some of the 65 remaining high rollers as the blinds continue their inexorable rise. This means it is push or fold poker for some of the shorter stacks.

So far that’s working out for Xixiang Luo, who has just won a decent pot without showdown. Pre-flop it was Zdravko Duvnjak who opened the action with a raise to 5,200 from middle position with the UKs’ Danny Tang re-raising to 16,600 from the button before Luo squeezed all-in for 86,600.

Duvnjak folded immediately before Luo’s stack was even counted down and while Tang looked sorely tempted but he too eventually let it go.

Another player who has just survived a recent all-in is Germany’s Fabian Quoss, who is lucky to still be in the running after the following hand played out.

Pre-flop it was Ryan Yum who was the initial raiser, making it 5,500 to go from middle position with the field’s sole remaining PokerStars Pro Felipe Ramos making the call from the button before Quoss moved in for his last 42,000 from the small blind.

Action folded back around to Yum, who re-shoved to isolate and after Ramos got out of the way the cards were turned over.

Fabian Quoss: {a-Spades}{q-Hearts}
Ryan Yum: {a-Hearts}{k-Spades}

Quoss was the at risk player with a dominated hand and it was not looking good for the German, until the board ran out {10-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{j-Hearts}{3-Clubs} for an anti-climatic chop. Three players who were not so lucky were Keisuke Hikosaka, Lee Hon Cheong and Lim Chin Wei who are all now no longer in the running.

Liang no More

Niveau 12 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

Yu Liang was one of three casualties of local players in quick succession. Down to his last 2,700, Liang shoved from the hijack and Dejan Boskovic Jr reraised to 6,500 on the button. This was enough to get everyone else out of the way and the cards were turned over.

Yu Liang: {A-Spades}{J-Hearts}
Dejan Boskovic Jr: {J-Spades}{J-Clubs}

Liang spiked an ace, but the case jack also appeared on the {A-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} flop. On the {K-Diamonds} turn, Liang picked up some chop outs, but the {8-Hearts} river was a blank and Liang joined the rail.

Chen Takes From Kozlov

Niveau 11 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

We caught the action on the flop with over 12,000 already in the pot and the board reading {5-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{6-Hearts} in a pot between Taiwan’s James Chen and Australia’s Martin Kozlov.

The action is checked around to the {2-Clubs} turn and first to act Kozlov now fired for 7,200. Chen gave him an evaluating look and slid in the call to bring play to the {q-Spades} river.

Kozlov bet out again, pushing 21,000 into the middle of the table and after a few seconds deliberation Chen made the call. The Aussie turned over {k-Clubs}{j-Clubs} but this was not enough to beat Chen, who had made a great call with just {a-Spades}{10-Clubs} for ace-high and he raked in the pot.

A Big Loss for Moss

Niveau 11 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Matthew Moss started the day with one of the bigger stacks, but that has been reduce to all but 20 big blinds as the Brit just took yet another hit in a battle of the blinds against Dianlei Zhang. The stacks of both went in preflop and it was Zhang at risk in a coinflip.

Dianlei Zhang: {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}
Matthew Moss: {A-Spades}{K-Hearts}

The board came {Q-Hearts}{4-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} and Moss had to forfeit another 69,900 while Zhang moved back above the average.

Dvoress Sends O'Dwyer to the Rail

Niveau 11 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Steve O'Dwyer
Steve O'Dwyer

It took Daniel Dvoress some two minutes to re-arrange his stack after having just sent Steve O'Dwyer to the rail in a big raising war that saw the Irishman all in and at risk preflop. Dvoress raised to 5,000 from under the gun and O'Dwyer three-bet to 14,500 before Dvoress clicked it back with a small reraise.

O'Dwyer moved all in via five-bet jam and Dvoress couldn't have called any faster, which was a very bad sign for the HK$400,000 Super High Roller champ.

Steve O'Dwyer: {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds}
Daniel Dvoress: {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}

The {J-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} flop left O'Dwyer in even more desperate shape, while the {Q-Hearts} turn provided a glimpse of hope with the straight draw. A blank {2-Hearts} river avoided the miracle and O'Dwyer joined the early casualties, that also include Calvin Lee, Atanas Kavrakov and 2010 Aussie Millions champion Tyron Krost.

Zhou Squeezes, Lebadev Profits

Niveau 11 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Pakinai Lisawad opened the action with a raise to 5,000 from middle position with both Sergey Levedev and Soichiro Kojiya making the call from the cutoff and button respectively before Quan Zhou squeezed to 19,000 from the small blind.

While this got Lisawad and Kojiya to bow out Lebedev was going nowhere and made the call to take play heads-up to the {k-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{3-Spades} flop.

Zhou thought it over before leading out for 17,000 and LEbadev called once again and the dealer peeled off the {4-Spades} turn.

Zhou slowed right down and checked over to Lebedev, who decided to put him to the test and moved all-in. Zhou did not take long to throw his hand away and he is now looking a little short while Lebedev looked to have a little over 200,000.

Grospellier Busts to Attenborough

Niveau 11 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Bertrand Grospellier
Bertrand Grospellier

The day had started well for Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier, as the PokerStars Team Pro quickly built his stack. But all of that has vanished just now in a big pot against Adrian Attenborough.

Grospellier was the initial raiser and made it 4,000 to go only to see Attenborough three-bet to 15,000 out of the blinds. Grospellier called and the flop fell {Q-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{2-Spades}. Attenborough checked, Grospellier bet 12,200 and the Aussie called.

Pretty much the same then happened on the {A-Spades} turn, when Attenborough check-called a bet worth 16,600 and then checked again the {K-Spades} river. Grospellier shoved for around 45,000 and Attenborough snap-called, tabling the {Q-Spades}{10-Spades} for top pair on the flop and the back-doored nut flush.

Grospellier tossed his now worthless {K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} for two pair into the muck and quickly left the tournament area.
