Dejan Boskovic Jr opened the action from middle position with a raise to 4,500 and Hiroshi Nishiyama moved the last of his chips in from the cutoff for a shove of 42,000 in total.
Big Blind Dario Sammertino ran the shot clock down to 10-seconds before reshoving for 47200. Boskovic looked sorely tempted to take the chance to eliminate two players but decided against it, grimacing and folding and the cards are turned over.
Hiroshi Nishiyama:
Dario Sammartino:
Nishiyama was the at risk player with a dominated hand and found no help when the board ran out meaning Sammartino’s kicker played and we lose another.
On a table that previously featured Oliver Price, Ben Lai was the initial raiser and a three-bet pot emerged with Shashank Rathi in the small blind and Morten Mortensen in the big blind coming along.
The flop of saw the action check to Lai and he continued for 16,000, which only Rathi called. The Indian then also checked the turn and now Lai made it 30,000 to go. This proved to be too much for Rathi and he folded.
Players are easing into action here in the HK$103,000 High Roller Single Re-entry but we have no big hands to speak of.
Bertrand Grospellier tried to get something going with a late position min-raise but was immediately shut down by big blind Adrian Attenborough who moved in over the top and while the Frenchman thought it over he eventually let it go.
There is an interesting table draw with Day 1 chip leader Nick Petrangelo, Steve O’Dwyer, Sofia Lovgren and Dan Smith all seated at the same table and all four players have decent sized stacks so there may be some fireworks later.
Action folded over to Steve O’Dwyer on the button and he made it 5,500 to go, with big blind Dan Smith the only caller. Smith checked the flop over to O’Dwyer, who continuation bet 4,500.
Smith called once more and it was off to the turn. Another quick check from Smith saw O’Dwyer fire again, this time for 12,000 and that’s enough to get Smith to give it up.
Vladimir Shabalin, one of the six players that entered before the start of Day 2, was also among those to bow out quickly, and there are currently 78 hopefuls remaining.
The registration has officially closed and there were a total of 180 entries. Sergio Aido predicted a very similar number early into Day 1 and was just two off. The prize pool information will be finalized shortly, the total prize pool is HK$17,460,000, which equals approximately $2,248,160.
@fleung22 @zedmaster84 182 is my guess, good tourney
Matthew Wakeman was among the early casualties of the day, while Sai Wu, Oliver Price and Ioannis Konstas also joined the rail.
Wakeman got it in with via three-bet jam out of the big blind only to see fellow Aussie Martin Kozlov quickly looked him up with the . The board came and that was it for Wakeman.
Rafael Moraes was the only player to re-enter while five further hopefuls jumped in as new entries. This also included Vladimir Shabalin, who scooped two Side Event trophies during the festival thus far.
Players are in the midst of unbagging their chips and we have a few late entries trickling in to join the 78 Day 1 survivors. We will post these when we get confirmation of who they are. Cards will be in the air shortly so stick around as we see who will make the hallowed money spots.
