Schemion Runs Out of Magic

Niveau 9 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Ole Schemion
Ole Schemion

Ole Schemion still has another shot at glory here in Monte-Carlo with a big stack after Day 1a of the Main Event, and there is also the final €25,750 High Roller left, but he won't claim the title of the Single-Day High Roller. Mike Watson raised to 14,000 from the cutoff and Schemion shoved for what looked like 142,000 on the button. The blinds got out of the way and Watson snap-called.

Ole Schemion: {A-Diamonds}{10-Spades}
Mike Watson: {K-Hearts}{K-Spades}

The board ran out {9-Spades}{5-Spades}{5-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{4-Hearts} and Schemion was sent to the rail. He followed [Removed:17] and Max Silver, who were eliminated just prior to this.

Aldemir Eliminated

Niveau 9 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Koray Aldemir
Koray Aldemir

As we arrived, Koray Aldemir had checked on {6-Clubs}{10-Spades}{Q-Clubs} from the big blind. Byron Kaverman bet 12,000 from the cutoff and Aldemir shoved for what appeared to be 70,000 or so. Kaverman called instantly.

Byron Kaverman: {K-Clubs}{J-Clubs}
Koray Aldemir: {Q-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}

The {9-Clubs} on the turn sealed the deal for Kaverman as he made both a flush and straight. The {K-Hearts} on the river was of no importance anymore, Aldemir eliminated shortly after registration had closed.

Peters Takes from Uskov

Niveau 9 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

David Peters defended his big blind against the raise of Alexander Uskov in the cutoff and checked the flop of {8-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}. Uskov's continuation bet was met with a check-raise to 57,000 by Peters and Uskov called. On the {4-Spades} turn, Peters then bet 115,000 and Uskov used one time bank chip before folding on his second 30 seconds.

Schillhabel Busts to Watson

Niveau 9 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Mike Watson re-entered not long ago before the break and faced the shove of short stack Stefan Schillhabel after coming back from the break. Watson looked him up out of the blinds and the cards were tabled.

Stefan Schillhabel: {K-Clubs}{5-Clubs}
Mike Watson: {A-Clubs}{9-Clubs}

The board came {9-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{A-Diamonds} and that was it for Schillhabel, who became the first casualty that cannot re-enter anymore.

Schemion Doubles before the Break

Niveau 8 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

There was action on three different tables close to the end of level eight.

Hand 1

Dominik Nitsche raised from the button and called a three-bet to 40,000 by Timothy Adams. On the {Q-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{2-Spades} flop, Adams continued for 30,000 and was called before the Canadian shoved the {8-Hearts} turn for around 135,000. Nitsche has as many chips left and folded.

Hand 2

On the flop of {7-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}, Fedor Holz check-raised out of the big blind from 15,000 to 45,000 and Max Silver called from under the gun. The {6-Diamonds} turn and {J-Spades} river were checked through and Holz announced a seven, Silver turned over {8-Clubs}{8-Hearts} to win the pot.

Hand 3

Stefan Schillhabel had just paid off the wheel of Sam Greenwood on a jack-high river and then raised to 15,000 from under the gun the next hand. Ole Schemion moved all in for 76,500 and the action folded back to Schillhabel, who called the shove of his fellow countryman.

Ole Schemion: {A-Hearts}{10-Clubs}
Stefan Schillhabel: {J-Hearts}{J-Clubs}

After a board of {K-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}{9-Spades}, Schillhabel and Schemion traded their roles as short stacks and Schillhabel was left with less than 10 big blinds for the next level.

Up to 60 Entries

Niveau 8 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

The screens show 47 players remaining out of a 60-entry strong field and that also includes eight re-entries thus far. Viacheslav Buldygin was eliminated over on table one while Dominik Nitsche re-entered. Jack Salter was also walking through the tournament area and said "I think I gonna buy in after the break."

The last 10 minutes of this level and the upcoming 20-minute break remain for players to join the action.

Negreanu Chips Up Further

Niveau 8 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

In a battle of the PokerStars Team Pros, Daniel Negreanu bet the {6-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{J-Clubs}{10-Spades} river for 70,000 and Igor Kurganov in the hijack eventually called. "I have a pair" Negreanu announced and turned over the {7-Hearts}{7-Spades}, while Kurganov mucked his cards.

One hand later, Negreanu raised to 12,500 and Dan Colman defended the big blind. Colman checked the {K-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{5-Spades} flop and quickly folded when Negreanu continued for 10,000.
