Alors que le Jour 1B du Main Event PokerStars Championship presented by Monte-Carlo Casino® à 5300€ l'entrée se terminait dans la nuit de dimanche à lundi, le High Roller Single Day à 50.000€ battait son plein.
52 joueurs se sont présentés sur ce tournoi des ballas et 12 ont même profité de l'option re-entry pour porter l'affluence de ce tournoi à 64 entrées, générant un prizepool de 3,1 millions d'euros. Après 14 heures de jeu, la bulle de Mustapha Kanit, et une finale où l'on retrouvait Steve O'Dwyer, Fedor Holz, Mike Watson, Nick Petrangelo ou encore Erik Seidel, c'est le jeune prodige espagnol Adrian Mataeos Diaz qui a triomphé pour un gain de 908 00€. Une somme qui permet au premier ibérique vainqueur d'un EPT de franchir la barre des 8 millions de gains cumulés en live.

La plupart des grands noms du poker ont beau avoir participé à l'événement, c'est le Français Jean-Noël Thorel qui a animé le début de partie. Le Français s'est régalé sur des niveaux de 30 minutes en faisant bouger les masses avant de se faire piéger par les champions.
Première victime du jour, Petrangelo a bien fait de re-entry, il termine 5e pour un gain net de 148 400€. Après avoir transformé un satellite à 10.200€ en un gain de 832.800€ sur le tournoi à 100.000€ remporté par Bryn Kenney, Daniel Dvoress a eu besoin de 3 bullets pour un total de 150.000€. Le Canadien a bien fait d'insister puisqu'il s'incline en head's up contre Mateos Diaz pour un gain net de 502.000€ !
Daniel Negreanu, Isaac Haxton, John Juanda ou encore Charlie Carrel n'ont pas réussi à se hisser jusqu'à l'ultime table du tournoi. David Peters non plus mais il a au moins eu le plaisir de check-call trois streets contre Fedor Holz avec hauteur 
... et de découvrir le bluff de son adversaire.
Mal en point après cet essai, Holz va s'accrocher pour atteindre les places payées de cet événement pour la troisième fois en 3 ans (4e pour 319 800€). L'Allemand s'inclinera contre le futur vainqueur dans un coup où il était favori. Quatrième en 2015 (329.800€) et 5e l'an passé pour 271.670€, Fedor Holz est l'unique joueur à avoir toujours terminé dans l'argent sur ce tournoi.
Vainqueur de la première édition en 2015, Mustapha Kanit a fait la bulle en payant un shove avec

L'Américain Steve O'Dwyer va ensuite être victime du rush de Mateos Diaz (6e) avant que le patron du GPI, Nick Petrangelo, ne se fasse éliminer par Erik Seidel, toujours redoutable de constance.
Large chipleader à 4 left, Adrian Mateos Diaz va ouvrir tous les pots et mettre la pression sur le duo Dvoress-Holz. Il va ainsi check-call

contre Fedor Holz avant de check-raise all-in sur le 
du tournant. Bien qu'Erik Seidel soit à l'agonie, et avec un écart de 100.000€ au payout, Holz paye avec

Dernier de la classe, Erik Seidel sort ensuite logiquement, sur le podium, éliminé par Mateos Diaz qui a débuté le head's up avec un opposant sous les 15 blindes. Quelques shoves vont permettre au Canadien de grappiller quelques jetons.
L'Espagnol, en mode je mets tout du bouton, l'emporte finalement avec 
suite à un call [Ks4sd] de Dvoress en grosse blinde. Vainqueur du Main Event WSOP Europe à Enhien-les-Bains en 2013 pour 1 million d'euros et vainqueur de l'EPT Grand Final à Monaco en 2015 pour 1.082.000€, Adrian Mateos signe le 3e plus gros gain d'une carrière déjà exceptionnelle !
"Un objectif atteint de plus, je viens de remporter ma première victoire sur un Super High Roller contre les meilleurs joueurs du monde. J'ai gagné le SHR 50K€ pour 908.000€", a indiqué le champion sur Instagram. Daniel Dvoress kept his hopes alive with a few shoves that went through, but his stack remained around 11 big blinds only. Adrian Mateos then shoved the last hand of the level from the small blind and Dvoress eventually called in the big blind after giving it some consideration.

Down to three players, Adrian Mateos was basically involved in every hand, most of them as initial raiser, and he got through with most of the raises except for two three-bet shoves by Daniel Dvoress. Erik Seidel was chipped down to around 1.5M and that's what he moved all in for from the small blind. Mateos peeked at his cards in the big blind and called.

Erik Seidel shoved for 620,000 to claim the blinds and antes, then shoved once more to get up to exactly one million in chips. He shoved for that amount from the button and Daniel Dvoress called in the big blind.

Fedor Holz opened for 225,000 from the button and big blind Adrian Mateos called. Mateos check-called 200,000 on before checking again on the turn. Holz bet 495,000 and action was on Mateos. He thought about it for a bit before announcing all in.
"Ahh! I knew it!" exclaimed Holz, "I could see it on your face!"
Holz had started the hand with just about 3 million in chips and was facing a big decision, especially since Seidel on his left didn't have too many chips. With 10 seconds left to act, Holz called.

Both players had a flush draw. Mateos had a gutshot on top, Holz had the pair and was in the lead.
The river came the 
gifting Mateos the straight and Holz hit the rail. After coming 4th in 2015 (€329,800) and 5th in this event last year (€271,670), now 4th again. Holz netted €319,800, the remaining 3 players are guaranteed €423,800.
