Jeff Hakim a monté dix fois le tapis de départ pour terminer en tête du classement provisoire à l'issue du Jour 1A du Main Event PokerStars Championship presented by Monte-Carlo Casino® à 5300€ l'entrée.

La première journée du tournoi principal s'est étirée sur 8 niveaux de 75 minutes, un laps de temps durant celui qui cumule plus de 8 millions de dollars de gains online s'est bien amusé. 22e du Main Event l'été dernier, Hakim n'est pas non plus un inconnu en live puisqu'il a quelques belles demi-finales à son actif.

Hakim aura un jour de repos avant de tenter de faire fructifier ses 305 000 jetons. Stefan Schillhabel (203,000) est deuxième du classement provisoire alors que Manig Loeser (195,700) et Ole Schemion (144,900) se sont bien débrouillés aussi.

Le Jour 1A de la première édition de ce tournoi a été un peu moins fréquenté que le Day1A de l'ultime EPT Grand Final, disputé en mai 2016. Ils étaient 235 contre 286 l'an passé, sans doute les effets des absences deRonaldo et Patrick Bruel.

L'horloge du tournoi indiquait 107 survivants pour le Jour 2 qui se déroulera lundi. Arrivé dans le dernier niveau du Jour 1, Jason Mercier a emballé 83 400 jetons alors que sa femme Natasha Barbour en a ensaché 91 600. Belle journée aussi pour Igor Yaroshevskyy (157 600), Celina Lin (125,500), Craig Varnell (115 700) ou Fabrice Soulier (105 000), finaliste du dernier Main Event PSC Macau (9e) et meilleur tricolore du jour.

Igor Yaroshevskyy called on the river with and Selbst flashed her cards before she made her exit. We caught the but are unsure of what the second card was.

Yaroshevskyy told us afterward that Selbst had opened preflop and had fired every street. Yaroshevskyy just called all the way and send the PokerStars Team Pro home with the rivered flush.

Schemion Beat Sends Silver Out

Justin Bonomo raised to 1,400 early and got one caller before Ole Schemion made it 6,000 to go on the button. Max Silver took a few minutes to think before putting his whole stack of about 30,000 in. When action got back to Schemion, he called.

To be eligible, players must cash at least once in each city. Players get five points for each event they play in and then 10 more points for each cash. Making the final 18 places earns still more points.

Additionally, those who play at least one event in each city receive a ticket for a $30,000 freeroll on PokerStars. Participation in both Main Events earns $300 in PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker buy-ins. Plus, anyone who cashes in the National Championship, PokerStars Championship Main Event, or WPTDS Amsterdam and then also cashes in the WPT Amsterdam Main Event wins a €1,000 bonus.

According to the WPT, a leaderboard will be posted sometime Sunday so players can begin tracking their progress.

Earlier today, David Peters finished in fourth place in the €100,000 Super High Roller at PokerStars Championship Monte Carlo. Peters added a six-figure payday of €630,600 (his fourth six-figure score in 2017 alone) to his massive pile of over $15,000,000 in lifetime winnings.

Peters opted to jump in the Main Event after his bustout, but this time the American giant had to bow out early. On a board, Peters check-raised all in with against Raffaello Locatelli. Locatelli called with and celebrated loudly after the hit the river, eliminating Peters.

We didn't catch the action, but a preflop raising war between Stefan Schillhabel (button) and Joshua Moore (small blind) wound up with the latter all in for 95,000 and called.

Team PokerStars Pro Jake Cody had to part with 90% of his stack after a massive clash with Vicente Delgado. With the board reading , Cody had checked to his adversary. Delgado went all in for 40,875 total, an overbet to the 35,000 pot.

Cody tanked for several minutes and eventually made the call with for just second pair. It was a brave hero-call from the Brit, but Delgado held for the turned set of fours to launch himself up the leaderboard. After the dust had settled, Cody was left with just 12 big blinds.

Murthy Misses Mega Draw

As we arrived, the action was already on the turn with Justin Bonomo betting 10,000 to put Neel Murthy all in. The board was and Bonomo acted out of early position. Murthy, who made the final table of the event in Dusk Till Dawn just 2 weeks ago, tanked for a bit and eventually called for his last 6,200 or so.

Tedeschi Sends Chidwick to the Rail

Stephen Chidwick never recovered from losing a big pot early on and was just sent to the rail by Paul-Francois Tedeschi. It was the latter that opened to 550 at the end of the level and Chidwick called on the button, as did Romain Nardin in the big blind. On the flop, Nardin checked and Tedeschi made it 925 to go. Chidwick shoved for his last 6,400 and Nardin folded, Tedeschi quickly called.
