Le Belgian Poker Challenge, c'est fini. Mais dites bonjour au PokerStars Open Namur 2025 ! Dans sa stratégie de renommer tous ses tournois régionaux à 1 100€ sous une seule et même appellation, PokerStars a inclu son étape au Circus Casino Resort Namur qui faisait jusqu'ici figure d'exception sous son acronyme BPC.

Depuis 2013 et la victoire de Laurens De Smet pour 97 304 € devant 470 entrants, le tournoi a bien grandi. Il a même triplé de volume jusqu'à atteindre les 1 332 entrées lors du sacre d'Omar Lakhdari (206 000€) en 2013. Au passage, le Belge Arne Coulier a réalisé un incroyable back-to-back en 2014 et 2015, exploit que pourrait bien réaliser Rayane Mokhtar, grand vainqueur l'an dernier devant un field de 1 259 joueurs pour 200 000€ et qui s'est déjà qualifié pour le Day 2 cette année avec 87 000 jetons.

Après Adrian State, vainqueur en mars du tout premier PokerStars Open de l'histoire à Campione, puis Jon Kyte qui s'était imposé sur le PSO en ouverture de l'EPT Monte-Carlo, qui sera le troisième joueur à écrire son nom au palmarès de l'ère Open ?

En tout cas, il ne gagnera pas que sur un coup de chance puisqu'à l'issue des sept Day 1 qui se sont tenus depuis le 31 mai, pas moins de 1 522 entrées ont été enregistrées, dépassant ainsi le record d'affluence du feu BPC.

Dans ce field XXL, 432 joueurs ont réussi à se qualifier pour le Day 2, à commencer par Ferdinando D'Alessio qui a terminé en tête du Day 1f de ce mercredi (le plus gros de tous les flights avec 584 entrées) avec 473 500 jetons. Il a devancé Gertjan Albers (428 500), tandis que le chipleader du Day 1a Djamal Boutaleb prend la troisième place provisoire avec 396 000 jetons.

La liste des qualifiés est longue et sera encore complétée par les joueurs qui s'inscriront tardivement, juste avant la reprise du Day 2. Mais dans cette liste, on peut citer Axel Hallay (337 000) et le streamer allemand Felix Schneiders (324 500), tous les deux dans le Top 10, ou les gros stacks des locaux Guy Goossens (220 000), Mallory Frere (208 000), Jerome Sgorrano (185 000) et Damien Hupe (185 000).

L'Espagnole Soraya Estrada (185 500) sera accompagnée au Day 2 par monsieur, Gerard Carbo, qui aura un stack deux fois plus petit (94 000) mais qui a déjà complété son armoire à trophées cette semaine en remportant le PSO Super High Roller à 5 000€ devant 30 joueurs pour 51 960€.

Les anciens vainqueurs de l'Irish Open Tero Laurila (151 000) et David Docherty (147 000) seront aussi de la partie à la reprise tout comme le runner-up de cette année Umberto Ruggeri (154 000) et son compatriote et vainqueur EPT Giuliano Bendinelli (114 500).

Pendant que certains sont déjà partis à la chasse à la breloque à Las Vegas, d'autres ont préféré s'arrêter à Namur. C'est le cas de Christopher Brammer (140 500), Albert Hoekendijk (117 500), Ranno Sootla (82 000), Darius Neagoe (72 000), Antoine Vranken (52 000), Fabio Peluso (43 500) et du Team Pro PokerStars Barny Boatman (38 000) qui a été rejoint au Day 2 par son coéquipier Kenny Hallaert (120 000).

Comme "Mokhtavarium" précédemment cité, les anciens vainqueurs Samy Barka (106 500) et Omar Lakhdari (60 000) tenteront le doublé, tandis que Konstantin Faerber et Tobias Peters avec le même stack (65 000) espèreront faire mieux que leur table finale de l'an dernier.

Enfin pêle-mêle, on gardera aussi un œil sur des joueurs comme Quentin Roussey (119 000), Mathias Moutaoukil (75 000), Kuljinder Sidhu (65 500), Florian Duta (64 000), Gregory Fournier (48 500) et Kalidou Sow (30 000) par exemple.

Le début du Day 2 est prévue pour midi sur le Niveau 12 (1 000/1 500 BB Ante 1 500), avec des levels qui passent de 60 à 75 minutes. Le payout sera révélé une fois les inscriptions tardives clôturées à la reprise, avec une bulle qui devrait éclater à la fin d'une journée qui est prévu pour s'arrêter à la fin du Niveau 19.
