Zhang Leads Day 1 of the Super High Roller Bowl Europe Main Event

Niveau 6 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante
Chi Zhang
Chi Zhang

After a tumultuous end of the night, Chi Zhang claimed the Day 1 chip lead of the Super High Roller Bowl Europe Main Event, here at the Merit Royal Hotel, Casino & Spa. With a late start time of 5 p.m. local time, everyone who took a seat at the start of the day was well rested to battle for the biggest prize of the series.

On Day 1, 29 unique players registered and 6 of them reentered to get to 35 entries and a $8,750,000 prize pool. But... As players can still register or reenter until the start of Day 2, the expectation is that the numbers will only go up. For now, 22 players have made it through to Day 2 while Bryn Kenney is the only player who had registered but had not taken his seat yet to get to 23 players for Day 2.

Zhang sneaked the chip lead away from Artur Martirosian in the second to last hand of the night when he eliminated Michael Addamo with trip sevens. But Addamo wasn't the only one to fall when only three more hands needed to be played on each table. Ali Imsirovic and Sergio Aido also fell in the final minutes of Day 1.

Timothy Adams and Ivan Leow both busted their first bullets but did much better with their second ones as they finished in third and fourth place in the Day 1 chip counts. Completing the top five is Timofey Kuznetsov.

Leow, Adams, Seth Davies, Wiktor Malinowski, Christoph Vogelsang, and Chris Brewer were the ones who reentered but Vogelsang and Brewer both burned through their second bullet to not return for the Main Event. Addamo, Imsirovic, Aido, and Pascal Lefrancois all have an option to reenter if they wish to do so,

When play resumes at 1 p.m. local time, they will play Level 7 which features a small blind of 3,000, a big blind of 6,000, and a big blind ante of 6,000. The level duration will remain at 60 minutes each and a ten-minute break after each level. After one of the levels, a 90-minute dinner break will also take place.

Play is scheduled to go on until the final table of six has been reached so make sure to follow along for all the action right here on PokerNews.
