98 players returned for Day 2, all of whom were guaranteed the minimum cash of €1,880, and it was a frantic start to the day as the knockouts came quickly, with almost half the field gone by the first break. Players such as Wim Verhaegen, Adrian Chua and Florian Dos Santos Pires departed at this stage.
Players such as Chris Dowling, Fabio Peluso and Tomas Patka then departed before the dinner break, and will no doubt have been hoping for a deeper run.
Stanciu was among the chip leaders at dinner, which took place after the final three table redraw, and on the resumption of play chips went flying round the room as the field was quickly reduced to sixteen, with the two table redraw set when Stanciu bust Michael Uguccioni in a flush over straight cooler, after which Stanciu never looked back.
Day 2 chip leader Mario Adinolfi exited in 15th place after becoming short, after which the knockouts started to slow.
There was a bit of spice in consecutive hands between Anas Belatik and Gabriele Lepore, which led to Lapore's departure, and the final table of nine was set when Belatik busted to Carta.
Play was due to conclude when eight players remained, and Antonio Iannei was the last player to depart in the day in ninth when Zarbo turned top pair against Iannei's pocket deuces.
The players will be returning at 1:00 p.m. local time Monday 10 June with 34 minutes left of Level 27, featuring blinds of 75,000/125,000, with a 125,000 big blind ante.

With eight players left, play has now concluded for the day. Updated chip counts and a recap of the day will follow shortly.
Around 1,300,000 was in the middle in a hand between Giuseppe Zarbo in middle position. Antonio Iannei on the button and Priamo Carta in the small blind.
On the 6♣7♠6♥ flop, action was checked to Zarbo slid out a bet of 400,000. Iannei check-jammed to 1,100,000, Priamo folded and Zarbo made the quick call.
Antonio Iannei: 2♥2♣
Giuseppe Zarbo: K♠Q♣
Iannei was ahead but had outs to dodge, and the K♣ rolled off on the turn to give Zarbo a pair of kings, the 3♦ completing the board and sending Iannei to the rail as the first player to depart the final table.

Stanciu fired out a bet of 1,400,000 and Pignataro quickly folded.

Traian Stanciu opened to 300,000 from early position and was called by Kym Nguyen in the cutoff.
Short-stacked Vladas Burneikis then produced a three-bet jam for 600,000, with both of his opponents calling.
With betting on the side, the flop came J♠9♠8♠, and Stanciu check-called a bet of 400,000 from Nguyen.
The 6♠ river and Q♥ turn were checked through by both players.
Stanciu revealed Q♦10♣ for the queen-high straight, but it was no good as Burneikis had K♦10♠ for the one-card flush, which was also good against Nguyen's A♥8♥ for a pair of eights.
A great start for Burneikis to the final table as he secures a much needed triple up.

Priamo Carta opened to 300,00 from the cutoff and was faced with a three-bet jam by Anas Belatik to 2,100,000. Carta made the snap-call to put Belatik at risk.
Anas Belatik: 4♥4♠
Priamo Carta: K♦K♠
Belatik had been unfortunate to run his pocket fours straight into Carta's kings, and no unlikely escape was provided by the 9♣5♦7♦8♠A♥ runout.
With Belatik's elimination there will now be a short break for the final table redraw. It has been confirmed play will stop today once eight players remain.

In the previous hand Mohamed Mamouni had doubled-up Giuseppe Zarbo when all the money went in on a K♦3♥9♥ flop, with both players holding a flush draw, Zarbo with A♥5♥ and Mamouni with Q♥J♥.
The 6♠ turn was a brick but the 4♥ river gave Zarbo the nut flush and the double-up.
That left Mamouni with only around 450,000 and he was all-in the next hand against Erico Iervasi.
Mohamed Mamouni: 9♠7♦
Erico Iervasi: 4♠4♣
Mamouni needed to hit the board but he whiffed completely on J♦5♦2♥K♦A♣, Iervasi's pair of fours good enough to send him to the rail.
