The third and final day of the HK$1-million Triton SHR Series Montenegro has dawned and just eight players of the 52-strong field (including 25 re-entries) remain in contention to battle it out over the juicy HK$48,921,600 prize pool.
Some of the international poker circuit’s best and brightest made the trip over to the magnificent Montenegrin Maestral Resort and Casino with superstars such as two-time Triton High Roller champion Fedor Holz, 2016 Global Poker Index Player of the Year David Peters, defending champion Koray Aldemir and Daniel ‘jungleman’ Cates just some of those who fell short of the hallowed money spots.
The eight remaining players are all guaranteed a payday of at least HK$1,712,000 (~$219,256) but it is the HK$16,877,600 (~$2,161,520) first prize all will have their eye on.
The man best positioned to take that is Germany’s Manig Loeser, whose elimination of Day 1 chip leader Wang Qiang burst the bubble in spectacular fashion to conclude Day 2 and set up the eight-handed final table and you can read a full recap of all the Day 2 action here.

Play has been underway for a little over 15-minutes now and there have been no significant pots or clashes so far. Manig Loeser got to play the button twice, as with Wang Qiang’s elimination from the big blind on Day 2 there is just Peter Chan paying a single big blind for the first hand.
Loeser took down the first two pots pre-flop after raising from the button twice before the first flop of the final table was dealt on hand three.
It was a pretty uneventful hand though, with John Juanda limping from the small blind and Richard Yong checking his option in the big blind. Juanda checked the [tqh7d8s] flop over to Yong who took a stab for 50,000, which Juanda called.
The turn saw both players check and Juanda took down the pot with a 170,000 bet after the hit the river.
Loeser re-invested some of his stolen blinds and antes the next hand, opening to 110,000 from the hi-jack with Peter Chan (cutoff) and Chan Wai Leong (big blind) making the call taking the action three-way to a flop of which was checked all around.
Leong took down the pot on the turn with a 190,000 bet with both Loeser and Chan folding.

The first big clash of hands took place when Antonios Paschalidis moved all-in from under-the-gun for 685,000 and Manig Loeser made a quick call from the hi-jack.

Mangi Loeser:
Paschalidis paired his queen on the flop and the turn and the river saw the Greek player lock in the double and climb to 1.4 million.

Level 19 was just minutes old before the final table had its first casualty with Mikita Badziakouski the man to fall first, with Germany’s Manig Loeser sending the Belarusian player to the rail.
Badziakouski had dropped down to just over 700,000 in chips and moved all-in from the button with Loeser re-raising all-in to isolate from the small blind and the cards were turned over.
Mikita Badziakouski:
Manig Loeser:
The Belarusian was in bad shape and it did not get any better on the flop. Badziakouski kept calling for the , especially when the hit the turn to give him an open-ended straight draw but the river was of no help and Badziakouski headed for the exit, collecting the equivalent of $219,256 for his deep run while Loeser recouped his earlier loss against Paschalidis.

There has been some blind and ante swapping with Richard Yong dropping a few chips as well as Manig Loeser, though the latter still holds the lead. Pokers being a zero sum game means the beneficiaries of these losses are Steffen Sontheimer and Chan Wai Leong.
An interesting hand played out between Leong and Antonius Paschalidis, but only because of the quirk of fate that occurred on the turn rather than for the result.
It all started with a limp, with Leong completing the small blind and Paschalidis checking his option in the big blind bringing the action two-way to a flop of .
Leong bet the minimum and Paschalidis min-raised and the dealer accidently dealt the before Leong had made the call. This meant it was shuffled back into the deck, Leong put in the call and the dealer burned and turned… the to chuckles from the rest of the table. Leong bombed for a full pot bet and Paschalidis folded immediately.

While Manig Loeser has less chips than he started play with the German player still currently holds the chip lead and has just won two back-to-back hands to climb back up to close to what he started the day with.
Loeser made it 130,000 to go from the cutoff in the first hand, picking up two customers in the form of Peter Chan (button) and Richard Yong (big blind).
Yong checked the flop over to Loeser, who c-bet 90,000 and both Chan and Yong quickly folded. Loeser raised it up again the next hand and took down the blinds and antes.
Peter Chan won himself a small pot, making it 130,000 from the hi-jack with Antonios Paschalidis choosing to defend from the big blind. The Greek player checked the flop over to Chan, who led out for 100,000 and that was enough to take down the hand.
There was an orbit of blind and ante stealing before the next flop was dealt with Loeser raising from the button and Chan making the call from the small blind.
However, that was it for the betting in the hand with both players checking all the way to the river with the community cards running out .
Chan turned over but this was not enough to beat Manig Loeser’s and the German player padded out his stack a little more before the break.
