Peters Doubles Gipson, Busts to Loeser, Cheong Wins From Wu

Niveau 12 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante
David Peters
David Peters

Despite doubling up earlier against Manig Loeser David Peters was unable to capitalize and took a big hit against Keith Gipson with all the chips finding their way into the middle pre-flop, with Peters the man to shove first with {a-}{9-} from the button and Gipson calling with {a-}{k-} from the big blind.

Gipson’s hand held and he climbed to 124,000 while Peters was left with 16,500. The US player managed to steal some blinds and antes but eventually fell afoul of Manig Loeser.

Peters moved all-in from the button for the last of his chips (around 8 big blinds) with {q-}{8-} and Loeser woke up in the small blind with {7-Hearts}{7-Spades}, which held to see Loeser climb to 121,000 while Peters headed for the exit.

We caught the tail end of a sizable pot that had developed between former front-runner Benjamin Wu (big blind) and Cheok Ieng Cheong (under-the-gun) immediately after Peters’ exit.

There was already over 60,000 in blinds and antes in the pot with the community cards spread {7-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} and Wu was mulling over his options as we arrived. Eventually, the US player elected to check it over to Cheong, who tanked for quite some time before checking it back.

We are not sure what the action was but evidently, Wu, holding {10-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} had convinced Cheong, holding {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}, that he had a hand significantly more impressive than a pair of sixes. The chunky pot was shipped Cheong’s way and he climbed to 150,000 while Wu dropped to 80,000 after the hand.
