Flashback: Vincent Meli Wins 2023 UKIPT Nottingham Main Event

Niveau 10 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Vincent Meli
Vincent Meli

Last year in the PokerStars UKIPT Nottingham Main Event at Dusk Till Dawn, Vincent Meli of France emerged as the champion following a heads-up deal against Patrice Brandt.

A total of 1,227 entries were made across five starting flights, which generated a prize pool of £1,177,920. Of those, 185 players made it through to Day 2 to lock up the £1,650 min-cash. Ten players returned on Day 3 to compete for the title.

As soon as the tournament reached the final two players, a deal was made. Brandt came into the heads-up as chip leader and so took slightly more from the chop. The pair decided to leave £2,000 behind to play for, as well as the coveted PokerStars trophy.

Niveau 10 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Leslie Packer shoved from the hijack for 11,600 and the action folded around to Alexander Johnson in the big blind, who looked down at his cards and made the call.

Leslie Packer: 66 All in
Alexander Johnson: JJ

Packer stood up with his elimination being imminent, but was rewarded by the dealer as he improved to a set on the 6K453 runout, which kept him alive.

Swann Gets a Bluff Through on Spragg

Niveau 10 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Benjamin Spragg
Benjamin Spragg

On a flop of 96J, Benjamin Spragg in the big blind check-called a bet of 4,400 from Nicholas Swann, who was under the gun.

The two saw a Q fall on the turn and again Spragg went into check-call mode when Swann fired 10,600.

An 8 on the river put four to a straight on the board and again Spragg checked, then Swann shoved for just under 30,000. Spragg had around 35,000 remaining in his stack and kept looking over to his opponent, trying to get a read. However, Swann remained motionless and after rechecking his cards several times, Spragg elected to fold.

Swann wasted no time in showing the TV cameras that he had bluffed the PokerStars Ambassador with K7, then raked in the pot

Lewis Has Kicker Problems, Arapi Chips Up

Niveau 9 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Jean-Emmanuel Lhuillier opened to 2,500 from early position and Dritan Arapi called in the hijack. Andrew Lewis also called from the button.

They went to a flop of 46J which checked through to the A turn. Lhuillier checked, and Arapi fired 3,400. Lewis called, and Lhuillier folded.

On the 6 river, Arapi checked it over to Lewis, who stuck out a bet of 8,000. Arapi didn't need to think for too long before he tossed in a chip to signify a call.

Lewis then confidently flipped A5 for a pair of aces, but Arapi showed AQ for a pair of aces with a better kicker to scoop the pot.

Boatman Flops Bottom Two, Stacks Carr

Niveau 9 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Barny Boatman
Barny Boatman

Barny Boatman raised to 2,600 from early position and Adam McKola three-bet the hijack to 7,000. When it got to Alan Carr on the button, he shoved for 8,700. Boatman and McKola both called.

On the 23J flop, Boatman checked and McKola fired 3,500. Boatman quickly raised to 15,000, and after some time in the tank, McKola folded.

Alan Carr: A10 All in
Barny Boatman: 32

Boatman had flopped bottom two pair, which left Carr drawing extremely slim. By the time the 6 hit the turn, Carr was drawing dead, with a meaningless 7 completing the runout.
