A total of 103 players entered the Unibet Open Paris Main Event on Day 1a and at the end of twelve levels just 24 players remain.

Former Unibet Open champions, Unibet Poker Ambassadors and well-known players from around the French poker-playing community jumped into the tournament which was held at Club Circus here in the French capital.

Ambassadors Ian Simpson, who won yesterday's Tag Team event, along with David Lappin,Alexandre Reard and Dan Murariu all tried and failed to make it through to Day 2, but will now have to play the Turbo Day 1c on Friday evening if they are to advance.

Two-time Unibet Open champion Martin Soukup fell in the last level of the night after he ran ace-ten into jacks and queens.

The chip leader is Mantas Urbonas (376,000) just ahead of Unibet Open Malta champion Alan Carr (218,000). Carr defeated 326 players back in September to win €53,400 and is now set for another deep run here in Paris.

Other big stacks include Dimitar Popov (200,000), Daan Hoogendijk (176,000) and Alban Juen (176,000).

Mantas Urbonas raised to 7,500 in the small blind and Jerome Brion defended his big blind.

Urbonas check-called 10,000 on the {j-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{q-Spades} flop and the pair checked the {7-Clubs} turn.

The river was the {a-Spades} and Urbonas bet 8,000. Brion quickly folded and the Lithuanian extended his chip lead.

Juen Triples Up; Soukup Eliminated

Niveau 12 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Alban Juen opened to 6,000 and Martin Soukup three-bet all in for 64,500. Big stack Louis Linard moved all in and Juen tanked.

"I'm sorry for slowrolling," said Juen in French as he contemplated his decision.

"It's not a problem," replied Linard. Eventually Juen called all in for 62,500 and the cards were turned over.

Alban Juen: {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs}
Martin Soukup: {a-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}
Louis Linard: {j-Spades}{j-Hearts}

The flop came {10-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{8-Hearts} giving Juen a flush draw and Linard a straight-flush draw, albeit a one-way one. The turn {k-Hearts} gave Juen his flush and the river {5-Hearts} bricked and Juen tripled up. Linard did win a 2,000 side pot as two-time Unibet Open champion Soukup was eliminated.
