In one of the first hands of the day, there was a double elimination in the far corner of the room and it was Unibet Poker ambassador Daiva Byrne that knocked out two opponents.

According to Byrne, Marius Asanache raised to 2,200 in the cutoff and Catalin Gheorghe called in the small blind. Byrne three-bet to 9,000 in the big blind and Asanache jammed for more than 40 big blinds. Gheorghe called all in and Byrne looked up both with the superior stack.

Asanache held {K-}{Q-} and Gheorghe turned over {A-}{J-} suited, Byrne had the {A-}{K-}. An ace-jack high flop improved Gheorghe, but a king appeared on the river.

Joentausta and Hotted89 Double in Consecutive Hands

Niveau 13 : 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante
Aku Joentausta
Aku Joentausta

Aku Joentausta raised first to act and was called by Radu Lungu in the small blind and Andrei Dobrescu in the big blind. The trio checked the {Q-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} flop and the {A-Clubs} turn was checked to Joentausta, who bet 15,000. Lungu called and Dobrescu check-raised to 45,000, two calls followed.

On the {K-Hearts} river, action checked to Joentausta and he jammed for 36,000. Lungu reluctantly folded while Dobrescu quickly tossed in a single chip for the call. Joentausta showed {Q-Clubs}{Q-Spades} for a set of queens and Dobrescu had {3-Hearts}{3-Spades} for the inferior set.

In the next hand, Andrei Toma opened to 6,000 and was called three ways including Alan "Hotted89" Widmann in the big blind. The streamer from Germany jammed the {9-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} flop and Toma called.

"Overpair?" Widmann immediately asked and Toma rolled over the {A-Clubs}{A-Spades}, Widmann was in trouble with the {J-Diamonds}{9-Spades}. The {6-Spades} turn blanked, but the {9-Spades} river gave Widmann trips to double.

John Pyle
John Pyle

Over on the feature table, John "Swifty" Pyle had been involved in many battles with Cristian Grecu and this time Grecu made it 5,500 to go with the {8-Spades}{8-Clubs} in late position. Pyle called in the hijack with the {Q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} and the flop came {Q-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}. Grecu bet 4,000 and Pyle raised to 12,000, the call followed.

On the {J-Clubs} turn, Grecu check-raised all in after nervously shifting in his seat and hiding part of his face with the hoodie several times. Pyle, who had bet 25,000, called all in for 109,500 in total with his top pair and gutshot. The river was the blank {A-Diamonds} and that spelled the end for "Swifty".

Grecu also overtook Evangelos Bechrakis in the counts on the feature table as well.

Tom Wiggers
Tom Wiggers

Sergiu Covrig had opened and picked up a call by Espen Uhlen Jorstad in the cutoff. Tom Wiggers then three-bet to 21,000 in the small blind and Covrig folded, while Jorstad called. On the {J-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{6-Clubs} flop, Wiggers continued and Jorstad came along to create a pot of nearly 100,000.

The {2-Spades} turn brought a second barrel worth 35,000 by Wiggers and Jorstad called once more. On the {7-Spades} river, Wiggers emptied the clip and moved all in for the last 82,000. Jorstad asked for a count and immediately apologized that it will take him a while to make a decision. Three minutes passed and Jorstad made the call, having his opponent barely covered.

"Good call, I guess," Wiggers said with a smile on the face and reluctantly showed {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}. Jorstad turned over his {9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} and skyrocketed up the leaderboard.
