Niveau 14

It took 13 hours of play on Day 1, but the official final table of the US Poker Open $25,000 Mixed Game Championship is set. Though the table is packed with elite talent, a familiar face will return to contest for a second USPO title as Stephen Chidwick has made back-to-back $25,000 final tables. Phil Hellmuth is the shortest stack while Isaac Haxton starts out as chip leader.

Not only did Chidwick make his second straight final table but he is also the current leader of the US Poker Open money race after winning USPO #03 - $25,000 No-Limit Hold'em for $374,000 earlier in the day. He's poised to take a commanding lead with a deep run at the final table of this mixed game event.

Benjamin Pollak will be earning his second cash of the Open; he finished in eighth in the $10,000 PLO event for $25,600 earlier this series. Dan Shak is also cashing for the second time, he came in seventh place for $32,000 in the $10,000 PLO event. The rest is cashing for the first time this festival.

The day got off to a great start as 30 players were seated when the action kicked off at 2 PM local time at the ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. The likes of Nick Schulman, Brian Rast, John Monnette, Bryn Kenney, Justin Bonomo, Anthony Zinno, and Poker Central founder Cary Katz all tested their luck but ultimately fell before the business end was reached.

In the final hand of the night, Daniel Negreanu was eliminated by Isaac Haxton.

The eight-game mixed event attracted a total of 45 entries and after 14 45-minute levels, the field has been narrowed down to just eight, one
off the money. In the end, Ralph Perry was the last player to depart empty-handed. Perry got it in good against Phil Hellmuth showing down a pocket pair of tens to Hellmuth's ace-eight. in limit hold'em An ace on the flop quickly turned the tides and Perry was eliminated on the money bubble.

Down to 7 players and all guaranteed a min-cash of $56,250, just one more player needed to hit the rail before bagging and tagging would commence. In the final hand of the night, Daniel Negreanu was eliminated by Isaac Haxton. The two tangled in a Pot-Limit Omaha hand where the money went on the turn with Haxton having two pair and Negreanu holding an over pair of pocket kings. Haxton's hand would hold and the all-time winningest poker player was sent home in seventh place.

The finalists are set to return for action at noon local time on Tuesday with Isaac Haxton in the lead. Fans can watch the action live with hole-cards on PokerGO beginning at 1 PM. Play will continue until the Mixed Game Champion is crowned and here's what's up for grabs at the final table:

PLO

Isaac Haxton opened to 45,000 from late position getting calls from Daniel Negreanu on the button and Dan Shak in the big blind.

A {j-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{3-Clubs} flop was laid out and Negreanu check-called a bet of 45,000 from Haxton, Shak parting ways from the hand. After the {5-Clubs} hit on the turn, Haxton bet the pot and though requiring a timebank chip, Negreanu moved all in for slightly more and Haxton called.

Daniel Negreanu: {k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}
Isaac Haxton: {a-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{4-Spades}

Haxton was ahead with his two-pair leaving Negreanu drawing to a better two pair or one of the two remaining kings. The {4-Diamonds} on the river secured the pot for Haxton and Negreanu was sent to the rail in seventh place earning $56,250.

Phil Hellmuth opened with a raise on the button and Ralph Perry reraised in the big blind. Seeing Perry had not much behind, Hellmuth four-bet and Perry put the rest of his stack in the middle.

Phil Hellmuth: {a-Diamonds}{8-Spades}
Ralph Perry: {10-Hearts}{10-Spades}

The board ran out {a-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{6-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} putting an ace on the flop for Hellmuth and Perry was eliminated on the money bubble.

Bring on the Money Bubble

Niveau 13

With the size of the big bet catching up to the shorter stacks, it was inevitable that the field would shorten in size quickly. Unfortunately for Eric Rodawig and Aaron Katz, they were unable to overcome the big stacks of Benjamin Pollak and Issac Haxton, Katz falling to Pollak and Rodawig to Haxton.

That leaves the field with eight hopefuls remaining sitting on the direct money bubble. The hand-for-hand play has begun at each table.

Chidwick Makes Trips, Leaves Rast Short

Niveau 13

Stud

Brian Rast: {x-}{x-}/{j-Hearts}{10-Spades}{4-Hearts}{6-Clubs}/{x-}
Stephen Chidwick: {x-}{x-}/{9-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}/{x-}

We picked up the action on fifth street with Stephen Chidwick pairing his nine and making a bet. Brian Rast called and called a bet from Chidwick again on sixth street.

Both players checked on seventh street and Chidwick tabled the {9-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{j-Spades} winning the pot with three nines.

Rast was left with just two big bets and busted a few moments later.
