Green Loses the Bet but Wins the Pot

Niveau 8 : 2,000/4,000, 3,000 ante
Brian Green
Brian Green

Dan Smith and Brian Green have been sitting beside each other for the better part of the day. Over the course of eight hours, poker players often find a way to make some side bets. Green ordered himself a drink with a certain type of vodka and Smith ordered two more of the same, but with different types.

The Bet: Smith made a $200 bet that Green would not be able to tell what glass had his favorite type of vodka. When the drinks arrived, Green was sure he had it nailed down, but unfortunately, he chose the wrong glass. Smith would win the bet but there was still some poker to be played.

Smith raised to 10,000 on the button and Green called from the small blind. The flop came {10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} and both players checked to the {9-Hearts} on the turn. Green led out for 15,000 and Smith easily made the call. The river brought the {4-Spades} and Green fired another 20,000. Smith called once again and Green tabled {k-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} for a flush, good enough to scoop the pot.

Kempe Falls to Rast

Niveau 8 : 2,000/4,000, 3,000 ante

After Brian Rast opened from under the gun, Rainer Kempe shoved on the button for about 100,000 and Rast called to put him at risk. Kempe had two live cards with the {k-Clubs}{9-Clubs} but was behind Rast's {a-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}. Rast Wants to Play for It All

Niveau 8 : 2,000/4,000, 3,000 ante

The pot already has around 80,000 in the middle and the board read {9-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}. The action was on Brian Rast who made a full pot-sized bet of 80,000. Justin Bonomo check-called and the {8-Hearts} completed the board.

Bonomo checked again and Rast shipped all in, having Bonomo covered. After using up a time extension, Bonomo finally elected to fold as Rast raked in a fairly large pot.

Kenney Gets a Bit of Value From Tollerene

Niveau 8 : 2,000/4,000, 3,000 ante
Bryn Kenney
Bryn Kenney

Bryn Kenney's open to 9,500 under the gun was met by a call from Ben Tollerene in the big blind. A {6-Hearts}{a-Spades}{4-Spades} flop saw both players check to see the {k-Diamonds} on the turn. Tollerene check-called a bet of 16,000 from Kenney bringing the {k-Clubs} on the river.

Both players checked one last time and Tollerene tabled the {q-Spades}{10-Spades} for just queen-high after whiffing a flopped flush draw and Kenney took down the pot with the {a-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}.

Shak Doubles Through Tollerene

Niveau 8 : 2,000/4,000, 3,000 ante

Dan Shak raised it up to 10,000 on the button and was called by Ben Tollerene in the small blind and David Peters in the big blind. The flop came {k-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{9-Clubs} and the action checked to Shak who continued for 20,000. Tollerene made the call while Peters decided on a fold.

The turn brought the {7-Clubs} and both players checked to the {j-Hearts} on the river. Tollerene led out for a bet of 55,000 and Shak was forced to use one of his time extensions. After some deliberating, Shak announced all in for 218,500. Tollerene asked for a count and then made the call. Shak tabled {k-Clubs}{10-Clubs} for a flush and earned himself a double up.

With about 60,000 in the pot and a board reading {4-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}, Brian Green check-raised a bet of 35,000 from Keith Tilston to 75,000 and Tilston made the call. The {2-Spades} landed on the river and Green continued his aggression with a bet of 60,000. Tilston went into the tank, using up a time bank chip before ultimately sliding his cards into the muck.

Schindler Looks to the Sky

Niveau 7 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Keith Tilston raised to 7,000 on the button and Jake Schindler defended from the big blind. The flop came {k-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} and Schindler check-called a bet of 6,500 from Tilston.

The turn brought the {5-Spades} and Schindler checked again. Tilston fired another 16,000 and Schindler called to see the {8-Diamonds} on the river. Schindler checked for the third time and Tilston announced all in. Schindler was left with just under 100,000 and had to make a decision for his tournament life.

Once 30 seconds had passed, Schindler tossed in a time extension and then leaned back in his chair and looked to skyward. Still not coming to a decision after 90 seconds, Schindler used up his final time extension. He stared down Tilston who sat motionlessly and Schindler eventually flung his cards to the muck.
