Justin Bonomo raised to 4,000 from the hijack and was called by Keith Tilston in the cutoff, Adrian Mateos in the small blind, and Nick Schulman in the big blind.
The flop came and the action checked to Bonomo who continued for 6,000. Tilston called while Mateos check-raised to 21,000. Schulman and Bonomo quickly laid their hands down but Tilston shoved all in for 55,000. Mateos went into the tank, using up one of his time extensions, and ultimately found a fold.
After a short break to refuel and re-energize, Stephen Chidwick, who just finished runner-up in the USPO #07 - $25,000 NLHE event has checked in. Chidwick is the overwhelming leader in the USPO money race and has all but locked up the trophy and bragging rights.
Daniel Negreanu opened to 4,000 from the cutoff and was called by Jake Schindler on the button, who gave Negreanu a smile before the flop it. Dan Smith also tagged along from the big blind and the flop came .
Smith checked to Negreanu who continued for another 4,000 and Schindler quickly mucked his hand. Smith called to see the fall on the turn. Another check led to Negreanu putting in a bet of 27,000. Smith thought for a moment but then elected to fold.
Negreanu clapped his hands in frustration of not getting action. "Give that man a set!" he exclaimed as he scooped the pot.
There was about 30,000 in the pot and a board reading when Isaac Haxton check-raised a bet of 21,000 from Bryn Kenney to 47,000 total. Kenney flatted bringing the on the river.
Haxton took off 1,000 from his stack and slid the rest forward, a bet valued at 71,000. Kenney thought briefly before cutting out a call and dropped it in the middle.
Haxton tabled the missing a straight draw and Kenney quickly turned over the for a full house and dragged in the pot.
David Peters has just made his way into the poker room of the Aria Resort and Casino after finishing off the final table in Event #7. Peters defeated overall leader, Stephen Chidwick, in a heads-up battle to pocket $400,000.
However, with his second-place finish, Chidwick has moved to over $1.2 million in total money earned throughout the series. It is not confirmed yet, but it is nearly a lock for Chidwick to take home the US Poker Open trophy come Sunday. Chidwick has not entered the field yet but is likely to make an appearance shortly.
The cards were all dealt out but it was soon realized that Sean Winter actually had three cards. A misdeal was determined and a few players tabled their hand. Winter turned over two kings in his hand, Tilston tabled pocket queens and it was Negreanu who jumped out of his seat after flipping over pocket aces.
"Look at this!" Negreanu shouted from his seat. "I have aces, he has kings, and he has queens. But it's a misdeal," Negreanu explained to the other two tables and the poker world.
Dan Shak is the latest entry to hop in the mix here on Day 1. Shak has two cashes in the series so far including a final table in the $25,000 Mixed-Game Championship.
