From 97% Favorite on the Flop to a Loser on the River

Niveau 19 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

Koray Aldemir raised to 100,000 under the gun with the {a-Hearts}{10-Hearts} and Alex Foxen defended the big blind with the {9-Hearts}{7-Hearts}.

The {5-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{k-Hearts} flop gave both players a flush draw but Aldemir, who also flopped a pair. In fact, he was a 97% favorite while Foxen would only win 3% of the time.

Foxen check-called a bet of 80,000 and then led out for 235,000 on the {j-Spades} turn. Aldemir called and the {8-Clubs} peeled off on the river to give Foxen a straight.

He burned a time extension before moving all in and Aldemir, who had 970K, released his hand.

Foxen Gets There to Leave Riess Short

Niveau 19 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

Alex Foxen raised to 85,000 holding the {k-Clubs}{10-Clubs} on the button and 2013 WSOP Main Event champ Ryan Riess defended his big blind with the {q-Hearts}{10-Spades}.

Riess took the lead on the {3-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{a-Spades} flop and check-called a bet of 50,000. He then check-called one of 100,000 on the {7-Diamonds} turn before the {k-Diamonds} spiked on the river to give Foxen a bigger pair.

Both players checked and Foxen said, "Got there."

Indeed he did as Riess mucked after Foxen tabled his hand.

David Peters Eliminated in 5th Place ($164,000)

David Peters - 5th Place
David Peters - 5th Place

David Peters raised to 60,000 from the cutoff and Alex Foxen responded by three-betting to 255,000 from the big blind. Peters four-bet jammed for 815,000 and Foxen wasted little time in making the call.

Peters: {8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}
Foxen: {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}

It was a flip but not after the flop fell {a-Hearts}{7-Spades}{3-Clubs} to pair Foxen. Neither the {q-Clubs} turn nor {q-Diamonds} river helped Peters and he was sent to the rail in fifth place.

Aldemir Gets Paid Big on the River

Niveau 18 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

With 115,000 in the pot and a flop of {5-Hearts}{a-Hearts}{10-Clubs}, Alex Foxen was in the cutoff holding the {a-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} and check-called a 75,000 bet from Koray Aldemir, who had the {k-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} on the button.

Both players then checked the {8-Clubs} turn and the {k-Spades} completed the board on the river. Foxen checked and Aldemir overbet the pot by putting out 400K. Foxen burned through a time extension and then paid off the bet.
