Imsirovic Starting to Heat Up

Niveau 7 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Ali Imsirovic
Ali Imsirovic

Ali Imsirovic opened to 7,000 from the hijack, Isaac Haxton, Jake Schindler, Cary Katz, and Justin Bonomo all called. The dealer spread out {5-Spades}{j-Hearts}{9-Hearts} on the flop and all players checked to the {a-Hearts} on the turn.

Action checked to Imsirovic, he bet 13,000, only Katz and Bonomo stuck around to see the {4-Clubs} fall on the river. Katz and Bonomo both checked to Imsirovic who fired in 38,000.

Both of his opponents took a moment before hitting the fold button and Imsirovic took down the pot, adding even more chips to his already healthy stack.

Blieden Continues Mashing; Shoves on Adams

Niveau 7 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Dennis Bliedsen
Dennis Bliedsen

Brandon Adams raised under the gun to 8,000. Dennis Blieden called next to act.

The flop was {j-Spades}{7-Clubs}{4-Clubs} and Adams continued with a bet of 13,000. Blieden just called.

On the {k-Diamonds} turn, Adams bet again, making it 28,000. Blieden waited for a few seconds, then moved all in with a covering stack over Adams for about 90,000. Adams thought briefly, then released, so Blieden took down another pot.

Petrangelo Pitches a New Tournament Idea

Niveau 6 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Nick Petrangelo
Nick Petrangelo

Nick Petrangelo and several others at his table are discussing a new event to add to a future high roller stop they are attending.

"$25k, Six-Max, Tag-Team, Case Race," Petrangelo said. "You have to drink 30 beers before you finish the tournament."

"How does the tag team component work?" Isaac Haxton asked. "Do you just have one guy drink and one guy play poker?"

"No you both have to drink 15," Petrangelo said. "I think I would be the favorite in that field. I wouldn't take any of you guys though. I'd take Connor," he said, talking about who we assumed was Connor Drinan.

"Oh with this field?" Haxton asked. "If you could take this field over there, you'd definitely crush 40% ROI."

"In LA I played and I couldn't find anyone to swap with," Petrangelo said. "And I just got blackout drunk because I didn't have to answer to anyone. I got second and it was so liberating."

Players at the table continued to discuss the tournament format as well as drinking exploits as play continued on.

Katz Takes Out Haxton

Niveau 5 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Isaac Haxton
Isaac Haxton

Cary Katz limped in middle position and Ali Imsirovic called in the small blind. In the big blind, Isaac Haxton made it 14,000. Katz called while Haxton Folded.

The flop was {5-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} and Haxton thought for a bit before moving all in for right around 80,000. Katz called quickly.

"I was afraid that might happen," Haxton said.

Isaac Haxton: {a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}
Cary Katz: {a-Spades}{4-Spades}

Katz flopped trips and Haxton was in a deep hole. The board completed with the {10-Clubs} and the {10-Diamonds} and Katz had Haxton covered by a bit, so he would be eliminated from the tournament.

Katz Doubles Through Bonomo

Niveau 4 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Cary Katz
Cary Katz

Isaac Haxton opened with a raise to 4,500 from the hijack and Cary Katz called on the button. Justin Bonomo then three-bet in the small blind to 22,000. Haxton called as did Katz.

The flop was {8-Spades}{5-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} and Bonomo thought for a bit before betting 15,000. Haxton thought for a few seconds then folded but Katz committed his final 9,500 chips putting himself all in and at risk.

Justin Bonomo: {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}
Cary Katz: {7-Spades}{6-Spades}

The turn was the {q-Diamonds} which changed nothing, but the river was the {4-Spades} and with that, Katz made a straight allowing him to double up.

The Largest Buy-In So Far, USPO #9: $50,000 No-Limit Hold'em Starts at 2 PM

Can Anyone Catch Stephen Chidwick?
Can Anyone Catch Stephen Chidwick?

Things are starting to wind down at the 2019 US Poker Open, but that doesn't mean that there's nothing left to watch. The final two buy-ins of the series are the two largest to date, which means some of the biggest names in poker should be coming out to play, along with the grinders we've seen all week.

An interesting points race for US Poker Open champion is also starting to shape up as well with Sean Winter and Stephen Chidwick each battling for the top spot and everyone else trying to catch up. Players like Cary Katz, Bryn Kenney, Jordan Cristos, and Ali Imsirovic are right there in contention as well. Whoever wins the title at the end of 10 events will walk away with a $100,000 prize courtesy of PokerGO.

Here's a look at the standings after the first seven events:

PlacePlayerCashesPointsMoney Won
1Stephen Chidwick4540$705,950
2Sean Winter4440$419,900
3Cary Katz3340$580,200
4Bryn Kenney2240$477,000
5Lauren Roberts2240$263,400
6Jordan Cristos2240$206,200
7Ali Imsirovic1200$442,500
8Ben Yu3200$262,800
9Jake Schindler2180$327,000
10Dan Shak3180$307,100

For this event, the winner will receive 200 points towards the standings while a cash will earn at least 40 points and more for each ladder up past 6th place.

Last year, the $50,000 event was the Main Event and was won by Keith Tilston, who bested a field of 33 to take down the first place prize of $660,000. Tilston has been in action this year as well, but not with much success, with only one cash through the first eight events. Another thing to note is that this year, the Main Event for the USPO will be a $100,000 buy-in, which is sure to draw out at least a few more faces. A $10,000 Super Satelite for the Main Event will also take place today, so players who are interested and nearby will have a chance to qualify into the $100,000 event.

Players in Event #9: $50,000 No-Limit Hold'em will start today off with 150,000 in tournament chips and the plan is to play down until the final table of six is reached. Action will start off with blinds of 500/1,000 with an ante of 1,000 and the structure will be the same as the rest of the USPO events up until this point. Starting tomorrow, the event will be streamed live on PokerGo with hole cards.

This event will play alongside Event #8: $25,000 Eight-Game Mix which will live stream today on PokerGo starting at 2 p.m. local time. Remember, you can watch all USPO final tables exclusively on PokerGO. Subscribe to PokerGO for just $10 a month or $99 a year to watch nine straight days of U.S. Poker Open final table action plus PokerGO’s full catalog of programming.

PokerNews will be here all day covering the action, so make sure you stay tuned.
