More than Poker

Niveau 2 : 150/300, 25 ante

The Winamax SISMIX festival is about more than just poker. Players are also flying in from all over the world to party, dance or just hang out by the big pool area of the Es Saadi Resort. Here is a little taste of what the hundreds of players at the festival are doing with their time in Marrakech when not in the tournament area - courtesy of the Winamax TV Crew.

Dantec Gets a Shove Through

Niveau 2 : 150/300, 25 ante

We arrived at table 20 with the board showing {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{7-Diamonds} and former France Poker Series runner-up, Dominique Franchi, betting 4,100 into a pot of almost 10,000 chips. A short-stacked Romain Le Dantec made it 10,000 total, leaving himself only 9,975 behind. Franchi called but wasn't quite ready to pay off Dantec on the {6-Clubs} river. After 30 seconds of deliberation, Franchi revealed {A-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds} and slid the face-up cards into the muck. Dantec didn't return the favor and instead raked in the pot.

Meanwhile, the first elimination of the day has happened, as France's Johann Greboval is no longer in his seat. 109 players remain.

Kings Over Tens

Niveau 2 : 150/300, 25 ante

Bruno Michels raised from the button only to face a re-raise of 2,200 from Louis Michaud in the big blind. Michels made it 5,750 to go, and Michaud made the call.

The {3-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{6-Clubs} flop was checked through before Michaud took the initiative by leading out for 8,000. Michels called and paid another 13,200 on the {J-Spades} river. Michaud shook his head and showed {10-Clubs}{10-Spades}, and they were no match for the {K-Hearts}{K-Clubs} of Michels, who proceeded to rake in the massive pot.

Michael d'Inca Is Jamming

Michael d'Inca is off to a good start

Artist Michael d'Inca usually performs with his French reggae group Sinsemilia, but though he is flying solo today at the Winamax SISMIX Main Event, he seems to be doing just fine.

d'Inca sniffed out the 13,000 chips bluff of Romain Le Dantec on the {6-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{J-Hearts} board, and d'Inca's {4-Spades}{6-Clubs} were good enough for the well-sized pot against the {3-Spades}{3-Diamonds} of Dantec.

Michael d'Inca looks like an early chipleader after the first level of play today.

Short-handed Action Makes for Big Pots Early On

Niveau 1 : 100/200, 25 ante

The Winamax SISMIX Main Event is one of the few bigger poker events playing short-handed from beginning to end, but with a lot of qualified or already registered players still to show up, the action is four-way or even three-way on a lot of tables right now.

Thus pots are building more rapidly than they usually would at this very early stage of the tournament, and on table 15 Timothee Colcher just took down a decent one with just Ace-high. On a board of {10-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{J-Spades}{7-Hearts}, the Frenchman called 7,000 into a pot of 13,000 holding just {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}, but they were good enough against the nut low of Guillaume Giraudeau as his {3-Clubs}{4-Spades} didn't get there.

Play Is Underway

Niveau 1 : 100/200, 25 ante

Cards are in the air at Casino de Marrakech with nothing more but a slight delay. 67 players were seated when the very first hand was dealt, but that tally will certainly surge with late registration open for 10 levels today.
