Poker, Pool and Party; That's What the SISMIX Is All About

Niveau 2 : 150/300, 25 ante

The Winamax TV Crew has been at it once again and created a recap of yesterday's activities during the SISMIX festival. The yearly Beer Pong Championship took place last night, and if you want to see how that turned out, or just want some insight into what the festival is all about, don't hesitate to take a look at the video recap.

A Bottle of Booze for Minne Braaksma

Niveau 2 : 150/300, 25 ante

Dutch player Minne Braaksma have gotten off on the right foot today. Not only has he succeeded in almost doubling his starting stack of 50,000 in just a level and a half, but he's also just won the Good Beat Jackpot, that Winamax is offering during the SISMIX festival.

Braaksma fired 900 on a {Q-Spades}{J-Spades}{4-Diamonds} flop, and only Bernardo Miguel Das Neves made the call before the dealer burned and turned the {A-Spades}. Braaksma bet again, this time 1,500, and Das Neves rather quickly folded, prompting Braaksma to flash {K-Spades}{10-Spades} for the Royal Flush.

The dealer wasted no time calling the floor to confirm the Jackpot-win, and a surprised Braaksma was shortly after handed a voucher for a free bottle of alcohol at the SISMIX Theatro Night Club.

The First Casualty of the Day

Niveau 1 : 100/200, 25 ante

20 minutes of play was all Raphael Kakon got for his money after an unfortunate turn. Kakon held {K-}{K-} against Gregory Cometto on a flop with two clubs, and as neither Cometto or Kakon would bow down in the flop raising war, they ultimately put all their chips at risk.

Cometto and his {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs} were looking for an Ace or a club to secure the double, and already on the turn he was gifted a flush as the club rolled off. Kakon had no possible out in the deck, and headed to the cashier for a re-entry of 50,000 chips.

With Day 1a and 1b in the books today's heat will be the very last chance to advance to tomorrow's Day 2, and so far 157 players have seized that opportunity by swinging by the cashier. Not surprisingly there are some familiar faces in the crowd, including Winamax Team Pro Aladin Reskallah, Timothee Scotti, David Moate and Marie-Lise Picard. They have all spent quite some time in the tournament area already, but are yet to bag up any chips in the tournament.

Also a repeat offender, Glenn Le Cornec, narrowly missed out on advancement yesterday, but he's off to a decent start, as he fired three bullets on a board of {6-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{3-Spades}{10-Hearts} board against Florian Thommeret and ultimately got the fold.

A Slight Delay

124 players and 21 dealers are eager to get the cards in the air, but they will have to wait a few more minutes, as we are waiting for the official introduction of the day. Play should be underway shortly though.

Welcome to Day 1c of the Winamax SISMIX Main Event

The Winamax SISMIX festival is about poker, party and time by the pool
The Winamax SISMIX festival is about poker, party and time by the pool

In about 90 minutes from now, the third and final starting day of the 2017 Winamax SISMIX Main Event will kick off at midday at the Casino de Marrakech located at the Es Saadi Resort. For tourists and locals alike it looks to be another day of fortysomething degrees Celsius, but the SISMIX festival goers will either have the chance to cool down in the pool or in the beautiful (and air-conditioned) playing area, able to hold hundreds and hundreds of poker players.

Day 1a and 1b drew a total of 585 entries, requiring today's heat to make at least 316 participants to equal the number of participants from last year. With the 369 runners from last night that is well within reach, and this year's edition might very well become the biggest SISMIX ever to take place.

Another 90 players made it through last night, putting Saturday's total field up to 136, but for those who didn't, today is another opportunity to secure advancement.

For the buy-in of 6,000 Moroccan Dirham (€550) participants will receive a starting stack of 50,000 chips; good for 250 big blinds during the first level. In today's poker forecast is 13 levels of 40 minutes each, with late registration being open until the completion of level 10. For players busting, a single re-entry will be allowed during the first ten levels as well.

The man who tops the standings at this point in time is France's Christophe Beyer, who bagged and tagged an impressive stack of 687,000 chips last night. Close behind him is countryman Jeremy Saderne (623,000), who just two months ago won €100,000 by besting a field of 1,399 players at the Winamax Poker Tour Final in Paris. Rounding out the all-French top-3 is Kamel Atoui with 575,000 chips. They will be the crowd to catch for today's fighters of the felt.

The PokerNews live reporting team will be on the floor at Casino de Marrakech to provide updates for the entirety of the Main Event: From the very first Shuffle up and deal to the very last river card is dealt Sunday night.
