Players have been sent on another 15-minute break.
Eric Yanovsky had just entered and immediately got into a big pot in the very first hand when he tangled with Marc Lavergne. They got it in after the A♥9♦2♦10♥ turn with Yanovsky jamming into a bet of 14,000 and Lavergne called.
Marc Lavergne: A♠K♣
Eric Yanovsky: A♦J♦
Yanovsky had plenty of outs to get there and spiked one of them with the J♣ river. Both stacks were counted and the 41,400 of Yanovsky covered.
In a three-way pot on a flop of A♠8♣4♦, Drew O'Connell bet 1,200 and a player in between called before Thomas Phillips check-raised to 7,500. Only O'Connell called.
Phillips then checked on the 4♥ turn and O'Connell bet a small 4,500. Phillips called. Phillips then opted to lead out for 21,000 on the 10♣ turn before his opponent raised all in for around 54,000. Phillips called.
O'Connell tabled 4♣4♠ for quads as Phillips was forced to show 8♥8♦ after both players flopped sets.
Three ways to the K♠Q♥J♣6♦A♣ river, Santhosh Suvarna bet 13,000 for essentially the size of the pot while in the big blind. Kyle Carlston called but then folded when Eran Soffer raised to 30,000 and Suvarna called, exposing the Q♠Q♣.
Soffer showed his 10♠10♦ for broadway and Suvarna chopped with the 10♣5♥.
"I played the hand so badly, I trapped you on the turn but the worst card came on the river," Carlston bemoaned.
Francis Pasqualino already had the backpack on and was ready to leave when his superior pocket pair had been out-flopped by Yuri Siniak. However, Pasqualino got there via two-outer to double for 47,100 and joked he would be going into the break now.
The cards were still exposed with the 9♦9♠ of Siniak and the K♣K♦ of Pasqualino showing. On a board of 9♣7♥6♥7♦K♥, the nines flopped a set and turned a full house only for Pasqualino to river kings full.
"That's poker," Siniak concluded the outcome after the emotions had cooled down a bit.
Kelechi Amadi had already been eliminated and Tjarco Reitsma then followed suit over on table three as Marko Vuzem claimed another victim. Reitsma and Vuzem created a pot of more than 25,000 to the K♠10♣6♥ flop on which Reitsma check-jammed for 35,500 into a bet worth 8,000 by Vuzem. The quick call followed and the cards were flipped over.
Tjarco Reitsma: Q♥J♥
Marko Vuzem: A♦K♥
The J♠ turn and Q♠ river gave Reitsma running two pair but Vuzem improved to broadway to boost his stack even further. He is not the only one running hot in that specific tournament section, as Frederic Breton also already has more than four starting stacks as well.
Jamie Gold was the standout name on table two and GGPoker online streamer Kevin Martin recently sat down. Just now, Nikita Luther walked into the same tournament area to take a seat and then joked "of course it had to be you" when she noticed Martin. Both had been contestants on the hit show Game of Gold, which is now literally taking place in more than one sense.
Frank Funaro raised to 1,700 and Kyriakos Papadopoulos then three-bet to 5,100 in the hijack. Jan Strazisar on the button announced a reraise to 12,000 and it folded back to Funaro, who folded. Papadopoulos moved all-in and Strazisar double-checked his cards before calling.
Kyriakos Papadopoulos: K♠K♦
Jan Strazisar: K♥K♣
The Q♠Q♥5♥J♥7♠ board almost delivered a cruel beat but they chopped it up. "A chop is good but there had to be some drama," Devin Ullman joked.
