Ausmus Runs Out of Room; Koon and Negreanu Chipping Up

Jason Koon raised to 24,000 and Jeremy Ausmus shoved for under 200,000 from the next seat over. The rest of the table got out of the way before Koon glanced at his cards and called.

The board ran out 6♥9♦3♦4♦7♣ and Koon held on with pocket fives to make a straight and send Ausmus to hang out with the dolphins.

Meanwhile, Sergio Aido got his last chip on a few hands later and couldn't make it happen.

Elsewhere, Daniel Negreanu is at a nearby table and he continues to add to his chip stack.

Muehloecker Puts Davoud In the Hurt Locker

Jeffrey Davoud open-jammed a stack of 77,000 from the hijack and Marcio Zacconi called in the cutoff as Thomas Muehloecker came along from the big blind.

Muehloecker checked on the flop of 3♥K♥2♥ and Zacconi bet 55,000. Muehloecker called. Muehloecker checked again on the J♥ turn and Zacconi checked back.

The 8♠ river completed the board and Muehloecker bet 65,000. Zacconi called. Muehloecker showed A♥10♣ for the nut flush, Zacconi showed a worse flush with 8♣8♥ and Davoud showed an even worse flush with 4♦4♥ before heading to the lagoon.

Jeremy Dan Pulls $500,000 in Mystery Bounty Event

Across the room, a boisterous reaction was heard as the top prize in the Mystery Bounty was claimed.

It was Jeremy Dan of New York who pulled the $500,000 prize from the drum before he launched himself around the room in excitement.

Muehloecker Doubles With Big Slick

Jeffrey Davoud opened to 12,000 in early position and Marcio Zacconi called from the next seat before Thomas Muehloecker three-bet 40,000. Both opponents called.

Davoud and Zacconi checked on the flop of 6♥4♥K♦ and Muehloecker continued for 27,000. Only Davoud called. Davoud then led for 25,500 on the 10♥ turn to put Muehloecker all in and he called.

Muehloecker was far in front and only needed to dodge his oppponent's gutshot outs before the 10♣ bricked off to earn him the double.

Holz Doubles and Orpaz Can't Win a Flip

Dmitrii Prusov raised to 10,000 from under the gun and Tom Orpaz called from the next seat over before action folded around to Fedor Holz who shoved for 101,000 from the big blind. Prusov ducked out of the way and Orpaz called to put Holz at risk.

The board ran out 5♦10♣10♦A♣8♦ and Holz turned a pair of aces to double through Orpaz.

"I've lost so many flips," Orpaz said to PokerNews as Holz dragged the pot.

Welcome to Day 1a of the $25,000 GGMillion$ High Roller Championship

Welcome to Day 1a of Event #3: $25,000 GGMillion$ High Roller Championship at the 2023 World Series of Poker Paradise. Cards go in the air at 2 p.m. local time at Atlantis Resort for the first of two opening flights.

The jumbo buy-in will feature a $10,000,000 guarantee with a rarely-seen-at-this-price second starting flight on Wednesday, December 6. The surviving players from both opening flights will meet again on Thursday, December 7, for Day 2 and the tournament will conclude with Friday’s Day 3.

Several prolific high rollers have been seen roaming the halls so far at WSOP Paradise, including Nick Schulman, Jesse Lonis, Daniel Negreanu, and WSOP Main Event winner Ryan Riess. Lonis has been a dominating force on the high-roller scene in 2023 and it’s expected that he will jump in this one along with most of the other high rollers that have made the trip.

Action kicks off at 2 p.m. local time and players will play 15 40-minute levels during the opening days. Late registration will remain open for nine levels (until about 9:30 p.m.) and two reentries are available for each of the starting flights. A 15-minute break is scheduled for every three levels and players will go on dinner for 60 minutes at around 8:30 p.m. after the conclusion of Level 9.
