Arron Fletcher Wins 2017 WSOP International Circuit Marrakech Main Event (1,400,000 MAD)

Pablo Rodero Eliminated in 2nd Place (910,000 MAD)

Niveau 30 : 50,000/100,000, 10,000 ante
Pablo Rodero
Pablo Rodero

Pablo Rodero limped in on the button and Arron Fletcher raised to 500,000. Rodero reraised to 1,500,000 and called off a shove from Fletcher.

Pablo Rodero: {Q-Diamonds}{10-Spades}
Arron Fletcher: {A-Clubs}{J-Spades}

Fletcher had Rodero multiple times on the ropes during this heads-up battle and finally delivered the knockout punch: {J-Hearts}{5-Spades}{2-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{9-Spades}. Rodero proved to be tough to crack but eventually succumbed to Fletcher's non-stop barrage of pressure.

The Spaniard takes home 910,000 MAD (€84,991) for his incredible accomplishment, by far the biggest score of his poker career.

Fernandez Eliminated in 3rd Place (635,000 MAD)

Niveau 29 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante
Fernandez
Fernandez

With NBaba's shocking elimination, short stack Fernandez laddered up a place he didn't expect ten minutes ago. Having hovered around the ten big blind mark for the better part of two hours, Fernandez kept his stack afloat by getting numerous shoves through.

In the small blind, Fernandez shoved again, this time for 840,000. Pablo Rodero instantly called in the big blind.

Fernandez: {J-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}
Pablo Rodero: {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}

Rodero flopped a set of tens on {Q-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{2-Clubs}, but Fernandez still had straight outs. He added flush outs as well after the {5-Clubs} on the turn, but the {Q-Diamonds} on the river was a brick. After being short for most of the final table, Fernandez held on until 3rd place and banked 635,000 MAD (€59,307).

Hamza NBaba Eliminated in 4th Place (465,000 MAD)

Niveau 29 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante
Hamza NBaba
Hamza NBaba

In an unexpected shocker, Arron Fletcher has eliminated second in chips Hamza NBaba and claimed a monster chiplead. After Fletcher opened on the button, NBaba three-bet to 350,000 out of the small blind. Fletcher four-bet to 950,000, which brought the action back to NBaba.

"All-in", the Moroccan whispered.

"What did you say?", Fletcher wanted to make sure.

"All-in", NBaba said, this time a little louder.

Within a second, Fletcher reached for as many chips as he could muster and splashed them into the pot. With a loud bang, he slammed {A-Hearts}{A-Spades} open on the table. NBaba's face went aghast when he saw what he was up against.

Nbaba held {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}, but had run into the biggest cooler of his poker career. It was a pot of over 7 million in chips, half the chips in play, with NBaba looking for a miracle.

It didn't come; NBaba's fate was sealed after the turn on a {7-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{7-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{J-Clubs} board and he finished in fourth place. By eliminating the number two in chips, Fletcher suddenly holds over two-thirds of all the chips in play.

Mika Kakkonen
Mika Kakkonen

In first position, Mika Kakkonen open-shoved for 1,200,000. Pablo Rodero reshoved all in and had Kakkonen covered by a wide margin.

Mika Kakkonen: {5-Diamonds}{5-Spades}
Pablo Rodero: {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts}

The flop {K-Spades}{3-Hearts}{3-Clubs} brought the king Rodero needed to take the lead. Kakkonen was looking for a five to survive, but didn't find it on the {10-Clubs} turn or {Q-Clubs} river. The young Finn's deep run ended in 5th place, worth 355,000 MAD (€33,156).

Julio Sanchez Eliminated in 6th Place (275,000 MAD)

Julio Sanchez

With 980,000 left, Julio Sanchez open-shoved from under the gun. To his direct left, Arron Fletcher called and the other players quickly went out of the way.

Julio Sanchez: {10-Clubs}{10-Spades}
Arron Fletcher: {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}

The {8-Spades}{2-Spades}{2-Hearts} flop was save for Sanchez, but the {A-Clubs} on the turn was a nightmare for the Spaniard. Sanchez now needed one of his remaining two tens to stay in the tournament.

"Diez! Diez! Diez!" Sanchez chanted, and his rail quickly chimed in. It wasn't a diez on the river but an ocho, the {8-Diamonds}, ending the start-of-the-day chipleader's run in 6th place. Sanchez takes home 275,000 MAD, around €25,684, back to Spain.

Mohamed El Bakkouri

Mohamed El Bakkouri open-shoved 810,000 from the button. In the big blind, Arron Fletcher called directly to put El Bakkouri at risk.

Mohamed El Bakkouri: {A-Clubs}{K-Spades}
Arron Fletcher: {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}

The window card was the {Q-Spades}, improving Fletcher's inferior kicker and giving him a huge lead in the hand. The board got completed with {9-Spades}{3-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{5-Clubs} and El Bakkouri's tournament came to an end.

With El Bakkouri gone, the last Frenchman was out of the tournament. After two French winners in a row, the title will go to a new country.

Ricardo Manquant shoved his stack of 240,000, just six big blinds, in the middle and Julio Sanchez called. Behind Sanchez, Arron Fletcher three-bet to 850,000 and Sanchez instantly let it go.

Ricardo Manquant: {Q-Clubs}{10-Clubs}
Arron Fletcher: {J-Hearts}{J-Spades}

Manquant had decent equity to score the triple-up, but it wasn't meant to be. After a {J-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{3-Spades}{8-Spades}{K-Diamonds} board, the winner of the inaugural WSOP Circuit Main Event in Marrakech two years ago saw his bid at a second ring come to an end.

Receiving a thundrous ovation from the rail, the Frenchman headed to the payout desk to collect his winnings of 153,000 MAD (€14,290).

Pedro Jimenez Eliminated in 10th Place (133,000 MAD)

Niveau 25 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante
Pedro Jimenez (right)
Pedro Jimenez (right)

Pedro Jimenez raised to 65,000 from under the gun. Mika Kakkonen three-bet to 260,000 from the big blind and Jimenez called. Both players checked the {Q-Spades}{J-Spades}{J-Hearts} flop. On the {5-Diamonds} turn, Kakkonen bet 300,000, Jimenez shoved around 900,000, and Kakkonen called.

Mika Kakkonen: {A-Spades}{K-Spades}
Pedro Jimenez: {10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}

Kakkonen was massively ahead with his Royal Flush draw, as Jimenez couldn't muster up more than a straight draw.

Slowly, the dealer flipped over the river card. It was the {10-Spades}, completing Kakkonen's Royal Flush! Everyone at and around the table gasped upon seeing the elusive hand show up, while Jimenez had an incredible story to tell on the way out.

With Jimenez' bustout, the final table is now set.
