Bonomo and Seiver Through to Round of 16 in $10K Heads-Up No-Limit Hold’Em Championship

Niveau 28 : 5,000/10,000, 0 ante
Justin Bonomo
Justin Bonomo

In total 114 players registered for Event #16: $10,000 Heads-Up No-Limit Hold’Em Championship. That meant that 14 players got a bye to the Round of 64 and 50 matches were played in a sort of $5,000 satellite. Those 100 players got half of their entry back.

After three rounds of play, 16 players are coming back to continue to battle for the gold WSOP bracelet and the first-place prize of $185,965.

Scott Seiver probably had the shortest amount of play time of all players today. In the first round, he only needed one hand to take out Samuel Touil when he hit quads with his pocket tens. Brandon Steven was the first to win his match when he eliminated Joao Simao with a set of kings. Unfortunately, Steven didn’t manage to survive his next match.

Also through to the Round of 16 is Justin Bonomo, who beat David Peters, David Laka and Jake Schindler. Niall Farrel made it as well, defeating Bill Klein, Adam Greenberg, and Michael Gagliano.

Jan-Eric Schwippert fought his way through Michael Addamo, Cary Katz, and Boris Martin to advance. Jason Mo also made it through by defeating Sean Perry, Joe McKeehen, and Max Steinberg.

Not everyone was as fortunate to make it through in the star-studded field. Defending champion Adrian Mateos was taken out by Tom Canulli, and heads-up legend John Smith couldn’t get past Kane Kalas in the first round.

Other unlucky players included Phil Ivey, Joe Cada, Ryan Riess, Phil Hellmuth, Jonathan Duhamel, Jeff Gross, Stephen Chidwick, Kristen Bicknell, Erik Seidel, Dario Sammartino, 888poker ambassador Dominik Nitsche, and many others.

The 16 remaining players will be coming back on Thursday, June 7th at 12pm local time with 400,000 in chips each. The winners of those matchups will return at 3pm to play the Round of 8, where each will be guaranteed $31,086. The Final Four may begin on Thursday, although that decision will come at some point before play begins.

The bracket through the completion of the Round of 32 is posted below.

Hall Busts Milisits to Book Ticket for Day 2

Niveau 28 : 5,000/10,000, 0 ante
Galen Hall
Galen Hall

Galen Hall limped in and Ryan Milisits moved all in for 12 big blinds, Hall snap-called in a heartbeat.

Ryan Milisits: {A-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}
Galen Hall: {K-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}

The {6-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{2-Spades} flop changed nothing much, however, the {K-Spades} on the turn left Milisits drawing dead to make the {J-Spades} river a formality. Hall became the last player to advance to Day 2 and will be back in action at noon tomorrow.

A recap of today's action is to follow.

Ryan Milisits raised to 20,000 and Galen Hall called. Both checked the {J-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{4-Clubs} flop and the {5-Diamonds} turn. There was no betting action on the {10-Diamonds} either and Milisits showed {Q-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} as winning hand.

Another limped pot saw a flop of {A-Hearts}{9-Spades}{4-Diamonds} and the {7-Spades} turn checked. Milisits bet the {Q-Spades} river for 12,000 and Hall called before instantly mucking to the {J-Spades}{4-Spades} of Milisits.

The Last Battle of the Day

Niveau 27 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante

Ryan Milisits limped in and Galen Hall checked his option. On the {K-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{2-Hearts} flop, Hall bet 10,000 and Milisits called before the {4-Clubs} on the turn was checked by Hall. Milisits bet 20,000 and Hall folded.

Hall then limped the next hand and Milisits checked. The {Q-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} flop brought a check, a bet of 10,000 by Hall and a fold. As one of the last heads up to start, the duel has now reached blinds of 4,000/8,000.

Farrell With the Friendly Aces Slowroll to Defeat Gagliano

Niveau 27 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante
Niall Farrell
Niall Farrell

Michael Gagliano and Niall Farrell were more jovial and talkative in their match than any of the others matchups that have taken place today, and a friendly slowroll from Farrell ended the match with laughs all around.

Gagliano raised all in from the button and Farrell asked for a count.

"This could be the one," said Farrell to onlooker Daniel Strelitz a table away. "It's close."

Gagliano counted out 96,300, and Farrell took another look at Strelitz before calling and showing {A-Spades}{A-Hearts}, drawing laughs from Strelitz and Gagliano, who showed {J-Hearts}{10-Clubs}.

"I knew it!" said Strelitz.

"Now watch for the justice," replied Farrell.

The board came down {A-Clubs}{10-Spades}{4-Spades}{6-Hearts}{8-Spades}, no help to Gagliano, pushing Farrell through to the Round of 16.

Niveau 27 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante

Blinds (3,000/6,000)

In a limped pot, Galen Hall bet 6,000 on the {7-Spades}{5-Clubs}{2-Clubs} flop, and Ryan Milisits raised it up to 22,000. Hall moved all in and Milisits tanked for around two minutes before sending his cards into the muck.

In the other remaining heads-up duel, Niall Farrell has a 3-1 lead over Michael Gagliano. Both players continue to trade banter without many showdowns taking place.
