Grizzle Building Up a Healthy Stack

Niveau 9 : 300/600, 100 ante
Sam Grizzle
Sam Grizzle

The board was reading {2-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{4-Spades} and both players had their hands face up with all the chips in the middle. Sam Grizzle had his opponent out-stacked and would not be at risk of being eliminated.

Sam Grizzle: {k-Clubs}{k-Spades}
Opponent: {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}

The board ran out clean for Grizzle with a {5-Diamonds} on the turn and {q-Hearts} on the river. He took down the pot and added to his already above average stack late in the day.

Lawrence Takes One Down

Niveau 9 : 300/600, 100 ante

Gary Benson raised to 1,400 from under the gun and Donald Lawrence called in middle position. They went heads up to the {q-Spades}{10-Spades}{5-Clubs} flop and Benson continued with a bet of 2,200. Lawrence raised to 4,400 and Benson called.

The dealer burned and turned the {k-Hearts} and Benson checked to Lawrence who bet 5,000. Benson quickly fired his hand face down into the muck and Lawrence took the pot.

Wang Cracks Queens

Niveau 9 : 300/600, 100 ante

Kai Wang found himself calling an all in preflop. The two players flipped over their hands and his opponent was at risk.

Kai Wang: {a-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}
Opponent: {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs}

The dealer fanned out a {7-Hearts}{4-Spades}{a-Clubs} flop and Wang found himself way ahead after spiking the ace. The {j-Diamonds} on the turn and {4-Hearts} on the river changed nothing and Wang took down the pot.

Big Stacks Sharing the Felt

Niveau 9 : 300/600, 100 ante

Henri Bisson got off to a red-hot start doubling his stack early and he's never looked back. Bisson is now sitting behind a mountain of 90,000 and he continues to rake in pot after pot.

The field is starting to thin down and WSOP bracelet winner Gary Benson's table has just broken. Benson is also playing one of the biggest stacks in the field with 85,000 and he's just been moved to Table 503 where Bisson is seated.

There's certainly plenty of potential for a monster pot in the future should these big stacks elect to clash, and we will be keeping a close eye on the table as the night moves on.

Favreau Survives on a Lucky River

Niveau 8 : 250/500, 75 ante

Daniel Favreau was on last year's final table of this event and, after this hand, he hopes to make it again.

Favreau limped from late position and the cutoff then raised to 1,050. The button called, Favreau called as well, and the flop then came down {j-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}.

Action checked to the button who bet 2,000. Favreau then moved all in over the top for 3,900 total. The action was folded to the button who then snap-called and turned over {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} for top pair with the nut flush draw. Fareau turned over {k-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} for king high with a straight draw.

The turn fell the {7-Spades} and Favreau would need to connect to stay alive. The dealer then turned over the {10-Hearts} on the river, giving Favreau a straight and securing him the double.
