After the first ten levels of Event #38: $10,000 Seven Card Stud Championship played out on Monday, the Day 1 field of 76 has been reduced to just 27. The likes of Daniel Negreanu, Scott Seiver, and Robert Mizrachi remain with Ben Yu holding the overall lead.

Yu, who was one of the last players to take a seat on Day 1, registering just before the final break and ended up with 280,000. Yu scooped a big pot against Calvin Anderson with a flush and cruised up the counts from that point on.

Negreanu sits with the second best stack heading towards Day 2, returning with 212,000. Al Barbieri (208,000), Seiver (202,500), Mark Gregorich (153,000), Jesse Martin (149,000), Robert Mizrachi (142,500) and Matt Grapenthien (139,500) are just some of the cast that will hit the felt when the action picks back up. Defending champion Mike Wattel is still in the hunt for back-to-back titles. Wattel ended the night on 154,500 and will look to increase that number on Day 2.

Some notable stars to see their chips dispersed among the survivors and are no longer in contention include Anthony Zinno, Jason Mercier, Nick Schulman, David Benyamine, Andre Akkari, Shaun Deeb, Ray Dehkharghani, Jeff Lisandro, Eli Elezra and Adam Friedman.

All is not lost for anyone who wasn't able to make it to the registration line before the day ended as registration remains open until the start of Day 2. Day 2 will see cards get back in the air at 2 p.m. with limits at 4,000/8,000 for the first two hours of the day.

Stay tuned to the blog as PokerNews will be on the floor providing live coverage until the last card comes off the deck and the latest WSOP champion is crowned.
