Anderson All Smiles as He Exits the Building

Niveau 17 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Calvin Anderson
Calvin Anderson

Calvin Anderson went from being near the top of the leaderboard to out in just a matter of hands.

It was five ways to the flop which fell {a-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{6-Spades} and Anderson fired out a bet of 19,000. Juan Vecino made the call, the turn fell the {7-Spades}, Anderson threw out 57,000, and again Vecino called.

The river fell the {5-Clubs}, Anderson moved all in, and was immediately called by Vecino. Anderson tabled {6-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} for a flopped set and Vecino turned over {10-Hearts}{8-Hearts} for the nut straight, taking down the pot and doubling through Anderson.

A few hands after, Zach Schwanke opened from the button, Anderson moved all in for his remaining 60,000 from the big blind, and Schwanke made the call. The players turned over their hands.

Zach Schwanke: {a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}
Calvin Anderson: {q-Hearts}{q-Spades}

The board was of no help for Anderson as it came {8-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{4-Hearts} and he was eliminated by Schwanke.

The board read {8-Spades}{7-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}, a player in late position led for 23,000 into a pot around 70,000, and Jeff Gross took some time to think.

After a few moments, Gross made the call and his opponent tabled {a-Spades}{9-Spades} for ace high. Gross turned over {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} for a better ace high and enough to take down the pot.

The board read {5-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}, the pot had around 60,000 in it and Georgios Sotiropoulos moved Peter Akery all in for his remaining 55,000.

Akery thought for several moments but in the end, he made the call for his tournament life. Sotiropoulos turned over {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts} for a full house and Akery chucked his cards into the muck as he was eliminated from the tournament.
