Franklin Likes What He Sees

Niveau 17 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante

2-7 Triple Draw

There was a mountain of chips, at least 70,000, in the middle when Frankie O'Dell and Mike Ross checked on the end. Tom Franklin squeezed out his cards.

"Whoo whoo!" he shouted, tossing in a bit.

O'Dell called and Ross snap-folded. Franklin showed an eight-perfect and swept up the massive pot.

Kassela Hits His Outs

Niveau 17 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante

2-7 Single Draw

With the smallest of stacks in front of him, Frank Kassela picked No-limit 2-7 Single Draw as the game and went all in for his last 9,000 chips on the first hand. All other players folded, and Kassela took down the blinds.

On the very next hand, Kassela shoved once again from the hijack and got a call in the big blind from Scott Clements. Both players tabled their hands, and Clements drew one.

Frank Kassela: {2-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{x-}
Scott Clements: {7-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{9-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}

Kassela saw that he only needed to avoid drawing a ten to come away with the win, and ended up picking up the {k-Diamonds} to win the pot. Kassela's massage therapist cheered enthusiastically, and Kassela doubled up for the second straight hand.

"I like having 49 clean outs," Kassela said.

McDermott Eliminates Two

Ben Yu
Ben Yu

2-7 Single Draw

Timothy McDermott opened for 5,500 in middle position and was called by the player on the button, Steven Friedlander. Ben Yu shoved all in for 59,700 in the big blind and McDermott tanked a long time then called. Friedlander called off for less, just over 50,000.

Yu and McDermott patted and Friedlander took a card. Yu showed {10-}{9-}{8-}{7-}{2-} and was out of the tournament when McDermott rolled over {9-}{8-}{6-}{5-}{4-}.

Friedlander had a live draw with {8-}{5-}{3-}{2-} but bricked when the {q-} arrived.

Martin Hits the Flush

Niveau 16 : 3,000/6,000, 0 ante

No-Limit Hold'em

A big pot had accumulated by the time Jesse Martin and Jim Collopy got to the river. With the board reading {5-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}, Martin put in a bet for 17,000 and Collopy went into the tank for several minutes.

Collopy eventually made the call, looking agonized when Martin turned over {a-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} for the rivered flush.

Uccio Busted in Badacey

Niveau 16 : 3,000/6,000, 0 ante

Badacey

Steven Uccio put in a bet for the last of his chips after the second draw, with Ben Yu and Steven Friedlander both calling.

Uccio drew two, with both Yu and Friedlander drawing one. Yu put in a bet for a side pot with Friedlander and got the call.

Steven Uccio: {a-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{5-Hearts}{10-Hearts}
Ben Yu: {a-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{4-Spades}{7-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}
Steven Friedlander: {a-Spades}{2-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{6-Hearts}

Uccio was out of luck on this hand, as Yu's seven-badugi chopped with Friedlander's six-high , which was the winning A-5 low hand.

Yakovenko Peels the Last Card and Wins

Niveau 16 : 3,000/6,000, 0 ante

Five-Card Draw

There was about 10,000 in the pot and Nikolai Yakovenko was all in from under the gun. His opponent in the big blind threw away two and Yakovenko thought awhile and mucked four.

The big blind showed {a-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{6-Spades} but didn't improve with {3-Hearts}{10-Spades}.

Yakovenko rolled over the {q-Hearts} and peeled one by one: {2-Hearts}, {3-Diamonds}, {2-Diamonds}. That left him needing another pair or a deuce on the river. He squeezed out something he said was paint.

"Hiya!" he shouted, slapping down the {q-Diamonds}.

After the hand, he admitted he drew it out for drama.

"Because I'm an honest guy, I'll admit I knew I had a queen," he said. "I'm really bad at sweating those out. I knew what card I had."
