Norman Chad Still in Contention at Day 2 of Event #27: $1,500 Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo 8 or Better; Cards in the Air at 2 p.m.

It's time for Day 2 of Event #27: $1,500 Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo 8 or Better at the 50th Annual World Series of Poker and cards will be in the air at 2 p.m. The tournament attracted 460 players and a total of 195 players survived the first day of the tournament. Dave Alfa sits on top of the leaderboard with 87,900 in chips.

Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo 8 or Better was already on display at this year's World Series of Poker but only as a part of the mix in H.O.R.S.E. and in eight-game. The game is now played by itself and plenty of familiar faces came down to the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino. Voice of the WSOP Norman Chad is still in the tournament with 48,000, three-time bracelet winner Barbara Enright bagged 68,800, and six-time bracelet winner Daniel Negreanu ended Day 1 with 38,600.

Benjamin Dobson took down the tournament in 2018. He won the tournament by beating a 596-player field to capture his first piece of World Series of Poker jewelry. He won the $173,528 first-place prize and he is looking to repeat his performance from last year. He ended Day 1 of the tournament with 20,000 chips and the first limits of the day will be 1,000/2,000.

The winner of the tournament takes home $142,801 and the coveted WSOP gold bracelet. Cash will be reserved for 69 players that will cash for at least $2,265. A spot at the final table will guarantee a player at least $9,211. The plan is to play ten 60-minute levels today.

PokerNews will be on the tournament floor to provide continuous coverage of the tournament.

Cyndy Violette
Cyndy Violette

Cyndy Violette was eliminated on the bubble after she got her last 3,300 in the middle against two opponents. One of them was Nicholas Kiley. They checked it down to seventh where Kiley bet and pushed the third player out of the pot.

Violette had {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{q-Hearts} in front of her but she stood up and walked away when Kiley opened up {7-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{3-Spades} to go with his {4-Spades}{q-Spades}{5-Clubs}{6-Clubs} board for a straight.

Violette made her first cash at the World Series of Poker in 1987 at the 18th Annual World Series of Poker. She has cashed in 20 different years at the WSOP racking up an impressive $948,842 with 44 cashes. She also took down a bracelet in 2004 in a $2,000 Stud Hi-Lo 8 or Better event.

Violette misses out on her 45th cash, but there is plenty left to play at the 50th Annual World Series of Poker
