Brits in the Field Having a Rocky Last Level

Niveau 20 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Keith Littlewood
Keith Littlewood

Two of the British players making a deep run in this year's Seniors event, Keith Littlewood and Ali Zihni, are short-to-moderately stacked as the blinds rise to 6,000/12,000. Zihni informs us that he's lost "500K in spins in the last few" (translation: lost every flip for the last half level). He did win a pot back, however: raising on the button to 24,000 and picking up one caller in the big blind. He bet 15,000 when it was checked to him on the {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}{j-Clubs} flop and was called again. His bet of 34,000 on the {4-Spades} turn won him the pot.

Littlewood, meanwhile, has around 280,000 after raise-folding {5-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} to a button shove for 257,000. He was informed by the button that, "It wasn't a race. I had nines."

Tahata Doubles Up Again

Niveau 19 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

Black #185 has turned into the party table, but Ernesto Gormaz was faced with a tough decision as the rest of the table was toasting with Jagermeister and beer all around him.

Lance Tahata went all in for his last 115,000 chips on the turn in a heads-up pot against Gomaz, with a tabkemate handing Tahata a drink immediately after the chips went in. While the rest of table laughed it up and did cheers, Gormaz went deep into the tank, intently staring at the board and trying to make a decision. He finally made the call.

Lance Tahata: {k-Spades}{9-Clubs}
Ernesto Gormaz: {a-Spades}{7-Diamonds}

Board: {2-Clubs}{9-Spades}{7-Clubs}

Gormaz saw that he was behind on the flop with second pair versus Tahata's top pair, and no help came on the {6-Spades}{5-Spades}, doubling up Tahata.

Slice and a Coke, You'll Never Go Broke

Niveau 19 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

So says Tommy Puccio, Miami pizza magnate and indeed not broke, although playing under 250,000 at present.

Also short stacked, but picking spots to shove is Louise Francoeur (so far doing so uncalled and picking up the 25,000 in blinds and ante).

Chuldjian Wins Massive Pot

Niveau 19 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

Avedres Chuldjian just surged to the top of the chip leader board, winning a four-way pot that eliminated one player and took away most of Louise Francoeur's chips.

Chuldjian held {j-Spades}{j-Spades} on a runout of {q-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}, with Francoeur showing {a-Hearts}{q-Clubs}. Chuldjian was all-in for 496,000 chips and more than doubled up.

Robert Jennings Busts in Two Hands

Niveau 19 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Mark Kroon
Mark Kroon

Robert Jennings was down to dust and all in for what looked like 20,000 vs. early position opener (and giant stack) Mark Kroon, who declared he was "super live" with {9-Diamonds}{10-Spades} vs. Jennings' {k-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}.

The board ran out {6-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}...{8-Hearts} and Kroon said, "It's usually the river, the nine."

In fact it was the {7-Clubs}, equally final for Jennings as it brought in Kroon's gutshot.

We were informed that the major damage to Jennings' stack occurred just prior, however, with Mansour Alipourfard the beneficiary. According to railside sources, Alipourfard had five-bet ace-six off-suit and spiked a six to double through Jennings, leaving the latter in auto-all-in-mode.
