Action Slows Down to a Crawl

Niveau 34 : 150,000/300,000, 300,000 ante

With ten players left, two tables of five players and no hand-for-hand, action has slowed down to a crawl on both tables as no one wants to miss out on the final table. Pots are very few and far between currently, with only the occasional shove from the short stack getting through.

Moon Doubles Through Hallay

Niveau 34 : 150,000/300,000, 300,000 ante

The hand started out relatively tame, but things escalated quickly. After preflop action folded around to Axel Hallay in the small blind, he thought for a moment and then made the call. Benjamin Moon, in the big blind, then thought for a moment as well before he announced "All in," which was met with a snap call from Hallay, who had been setting a trap.

Benjamin Moon: {a-Spades}{5-Clubs}
Axel Hallay: {k-Hearts}{k-Spades}

Moon looked to be headed to the payout desk after the runout through the turn of {j-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}, but the {a-Diamonds} on the river kept him at the table, and got Moon to remark, "I'm running good so far today."

Kamel Mokhammad and Benjamin Underwood had their stacks in the middle on a {k-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{9-Spades}{9-Hearts}{4-Clubs} board and the cards were already on their backs. Mokhammad had the {9-}{8-} open but was pipped by Underwood's {j-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}.

Mokhammad was left with fewer than ten big blinds after the hand. He then shoved the next hand and picked up the blinds and ante.

Christopher Csik Eliminated in 11th Place ($19,601)

Niveau 34 : 150,000/300,000, 300,000 ante
Christopher Csik
Christopher Csik

Christopher Csik raised it up and saw everyone fold to Robert Mitchell in the big blind. Mitchell three-bet shoved all in and Csik called it off for around 8 million to create the biggest pot of the tournament thus far.

Christopher Csik: {j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}
Robert Mitchell: {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}

Csik won a big coin flip against Phil Ivey late on Day 2, but in an even bigger flip he'd come up short. It was the ace that came for Mitchell on {a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}, improving his hand to the winner and leaving Csik with nothing more than an 11th place finish.

After everyone folded to him, Alberto Ortiz moved all in for 4,650,000 from the small blind. Axel Hallay briefly checked how much it was, but followed up with the call not much later.

Alberto Ortiz: {j-Spades}{9-Spades}
Axel Hallay: {k-Clubs}{q-Spades}

The {k-Spades} flopped in the window, followed by the {a-Clubs} and the {6-Clubs} to give Hallay a massive head start in the hand. The board ran out {8-Clubs} {3-Clubs} to improve him further to a flush, making Ortiz the 12th place finisher.

Mitchell Comes Back Swinging

Niveau 34 : 150,000/300,000, 300,000 ante
Robert Mitchell
Robert Mitchell

In the first hand back from the break action folded around to Zachary Mullennix in the small blind and he completed. Robert Mitchell then raised it up to 950,000, which Mullennix called. After Mullennix check-called a 800,000 bet from Mitchell on the {10-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{q-Clubs} flop, both players then checked the {q-Clubs} turn. Mullennix checked once again on the {j-Hearts} river, and then check-folded after Mitchell put out a bet of 1,500,000.

Two hands later Mitchell raised it up to 600,000 from the button after action was folded around to him and Christopher Csik defended from his big blind. After Csik both players checked through to the {k-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{7-Spades} turn, Mitchell slid out a bet of 600,000, which got a fold from Csik.

Bognanni Builds His Lead

Niveau 33 : 125,000/250,000, 250,000 ante

Marco Bognanni raised to 600,000 and Axel Hallay defended the big blind. The flop came {7-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{4-Hearts} and Hallay check-called 700,000 from Bognanni, while the {a-Spades} turn got checked by both players.

The {4-Diamonds} river saw Hallay take the betting lead with a bet of 1,200,000. Bognanni called it off with {k-Clubs}{j-Hearts} for a mere king-high, but his read was on point as Hallay couldn't muster up more than {9-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}.
