News From the 2019 World Series of Poker: June 17

Welcome to your update from June 17th at the 50th annual World Series of Poker from City of Sin, Sun and Poker, Las Vegas Nevada. This is what you need to know.
Two bracelets were awarded yesterday and one of them…well…we aren’t even sure if he was wearing pants. Upeshka De Silva shipped Event #38: WSOP.com ONLINE No-Limit Hold'em Knockout Bounty. You will probably recognize that name as he just final tabled the 3k 6 max a few days ago. He already has two other bracelets so this will be the third bracelet to add to his collection and since he collected a whopping 18 bounties he added more than a hundred K to his bank account.

The other bracelet top play down to a winner yesterday was the 1k seniors event which was meant to start the day with 6, but ended up with 19. After fourteen hours of play Howard Mash, a financial advisor from Florida, pulled all the chips his way and admitted that while he is an amateur and considers poker a hobby, it is a hobby he takes seriously. And with almost three hundred and twenty K in prior winnings, his story checks out.

Eyes were glued to the $10K dealers choice yesterday, but players were less than thrilled when play stopped at just 5 players. if a decision wasn't made to end the day early, Shaun Deeb was the favorite to collect his fifth WSOP bracelet. He is still the man to catch with the chip lead but Adam Friedman is right behind him and has strong motivation as he is looking to win this event for the 2nd time in a row. That being said, Shaun Deeb is looking to become the back to back player of the year and he revealed the early stop put him in a bad position for that.

One of my favorite tournament formats is in round 3 today with 10 players left and everyone in the money. Event #36: $3,000 No-Limit Hold’Em Shootout Has some of pokers finest in the mix and should be very exciting to watch. Justin Bonomo, Lucky Chewy and Alexandru Papazian are all still in the mix. Have a look at the table draw and follow the action with no delay hand for hand on pokernews.com

Event #34: $1,000 Double Stack No-Limit Hold'em is returning today, day 3, with three hundred and fifty nine player of the starting field of six thousand two hundred and fourteen! There is almost seven hundred thousand dollars up top so if there was ever a questions as to the popularity of the low buy in, deep stack events, this should confirm…yep, keep em coming.
