Li Continues to Pace the Field

Niveau 19 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

Michael Stephenson opened to 22,000 in middle position and Baitai Li three-bet to 80,000 from the small blind. Stephenson called and the flop came {k-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{6-Spades}.

Li led out for 75,000 and Stephenson called to see the {q-Spades} on the turn. Both players checked and the {3-Diamonds} hit the river. Li dropped in a bet of 150,000 and Stephenson made a quick call. Li tabled {a-Spades}{k-Hearts} and Stephenson sent his cards to the muck.

Another Good Flop for Sudell Ends in a Disaster

Niveau 18 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Tuan Phan opened to 16,000 in middle position and Derek Sudell three-bet shoved all in for 112,000 in the cutoff. The action folded back to Phan who quickly made the call.

Tuan Phan: {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}
Derek Sudell: {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}

The flop came {j-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} to give Sudell the best hand and a flush draw. The {8-Clubs} came on the turn and Sudell was one card away from another double up. However, the {q-Spades} on the river made a straight for Phan and Sudell was eliminated.

Van Bruggen Busts Over Two Hands

Niveau 18 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

It was a bust of two halves. Rick van Bruggen doubled up Harald Sammer after they moved stacks in having both flopped top pair (jacks) on a two-club board. Van Bruggen's {j-Hearts}{k-Hearts} was ahead of Sammer's {j-Clubs}{10-Clubs} only until a third club popped out on the turn, at which point he was drawing dead. After paying off Sammer 125,000, van Bruggen moved in for his last 60,000 the very next hand (uncalled), then repeated the action with slightly more the hand after that.

This time Gal Yifrach paid the 78,000 to see all five cards.

Van Bruggen: {9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}
Yifrach: {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}

There was something for everyone on the {10-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} flop: a set-bink for Yifrach and the diamond flush draw for van Bruggen. The {a-Hearts} on the turn killed off the sweat, however, and van Bruggen headed out to collect $8,477 for his 37th place finish.

Dream Flop for Sudell

Niveau 18 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

The action folded to Derek Sudell in the small blind who moved all in for his last 62,000 chips. Robert Heidorn quickly called in the big blind and the two players were off to the races.

Derek Sudell: {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}
Robert Heidorn: {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}

The flop came {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{k-Spades} to give Sudell a full house and full control of the hand. The {k-Hearts} hit the turn just for good measure and the {7-Diamonds} on the river completed the board.

Jacobson Falls to Yifrach

Niveau 18 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Gal Yifrach
Gal Yifrach

Martin Jacobson was down to just 10 big blinds and he moved all in for 83,000 in middle position. A couple of players gave it some thought but the action folded to Gal Yifrach in the big blind who quickly called.

Gal Yifrach: {10-Spades}{10-Clubs}
Martin Jacobson: {k-Spades}{q-Hearts}

It was a fair fight but the flop of {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{5-Spades} gave the edge to Yifrach. The {j-Clubs} on the turn did not help Jacobson and the {3-Spades} on the river was much of the same.

Acevedo and Slobodskoy Bow Out

Niveau 18 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Baitai Li,
Baitai Li,

Michael Acevedo shipped all in for 74,000 in middle position and Baitai Li called from a couple of seats over. Acevedo turned over {9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} despite the {9-Spades} already being burned. Li tabled {a-Clubs}{10-Spades} and the two players were flipping.

The flop came {q-Hearts}{7-Spades}{5-Clubs} to leave Acevedo in the lead but the {a-Diamonds} on the turn paired Li. The {2-Hearts} completed the board and Acevedo was eliminated.

In the next hand, the action folded to Michael Stephenson in the small blind who just limped in. [Removed:499] shoved all in for just under 100,000 in the big blind and Stephenson quickly called.

Slobodskoy tabled {j-Spades}{10-Clubs} which was trailing Stephenson's {a-Clubs}{5-Hearts}. The board ran out {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{6-Spades} and Stephenson made two pair to eliminate Slobodskoy.

Power Pocket Pairs Preflop Profitable for Simunic

Niveau 18 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Josh Arieh started the pot with a preflop open to 18,000. Josip Simunic in the cutoff made the call and Antal Mezei on the button three-bet to 36,000. Arieh folded but Simunic, after a bit of a dwell up, moved all in for 204,000 total. Mezei sigh-called, acknowledging the trouble his {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs} was in vs. the {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds} of Simunic.

No help for queens on the {2-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{2-Spades}{10-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} board, and Simunic doubled up.
