Emmett Off to a Rocky Start

Niveau 1 : 100/200, 200 ante
Randall Emmett
Randall Emmett

Lucas Picking and Randall Emmett, who didn't have a grand entrance this year for his Day 1a arrival, each committed 5,000 preflop and saw a flop of {8-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{j-Spades}.

Picking pushed out another bet of 5,000, Emmett quickly called, and then both players checked the {3-Clubs} turn as well as the {2-Spades} river.

Picking tabled the {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts} and it was good as Emmett claimed to have mucked ace-king.

Young Takes One

Niveau 1 : 100/200, 200 ante

Justin Young, who recently took his seat for Day 1a action, raised to 700 from early position, and was called by the cutoff, as well as both of the blinds.

Action checked to Young on a {k-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} flop, and he bet 1,200. One by one, his opponents ducked out of the way, and Young picked up the pot.

First Break of the Day

Niveau 1 : 100/200, 200 ante

The first level of play in the 2019 World Series of Poker $10,000 Main Event is in the book. The Day 1a field has been sent on a 20-minute break. Things were relatively quiet in the first two hours with just two bust outs that we learned of, as Marc Serota and Jerry Atkins have both hit the rail.

That said, there were still some interesting hands and storylines:

March Chipping Up

Niveau 2 : 200/300, 300 ante

A player opened with a raise to 900 from early position and received calls from Anthony March in the hijack and the player in the big blind.

The flop came {2-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{8-Hearts} and the big blind checked. The player in early position made a continuation-bet of 2,200 and March called. The player in the big blind folded.

Action went heads up to the turn {5-Clubs} and the early position player checked. March bet 4,000 and it was good to take down the pot as he received a fold from his opponent after about 30 seconds of thought. March finds himself with over one-and-a-half starting stacks early in Level 2.
