Faroni Calls Down Hubly in Four-Bet Pot

Niveau 1 : 100/200, 200 ante

Gregory Hubly raised to 500 from the third position, Abraham Faroni three-bet to 1,700 on his button, and Hubly fired back, four-betting to 4,000. Faroni matched the price.

The flop fell {k-Spades}{j-Clubs}{5-Clubs} and Hubly bet 3,000. Faroni called.

The {7-Spades} turn brought a second flush draw and Hubly flicked in a 5,000-chip. Faroni called again.

The {j-Hearts} completed the board and Hubly barrelled again, making it 6,000. Faroni called with {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} and his flopped top pair was good as Hubly turned up only {q-Spades}{q-Clubs}.

Zarghouni Takes Nice Early Pot with Trips

Niveau 1 : 100/200, 200 ante

Kamran Zarghouni made a river bet of 5,500 into a pot of about 14,000. His opponent Matthew Gloier considered the bet on a board that read {10-Hearts}{8-Spades}{7-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{q-Clubs}. He thought it over for about thirty seconds before making the call. Zarghouni turned over the {k-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} for trips which was enough to win the pot.

Matusow in the Main

Niveau 1 : 100/200, 200 ante

Mike "The Mouth" Matusow opened for 500 from the button and took down the blinds in one of the first hands of Day 1c. He did so in the midst of telling a story about losing a 2.5 million chip pot with 97 percent equity, at some other point of his two-decade-plus poker career.

Matusow was one of the "Poker Boom" characters that fueled the game's popularity in the mid-2000s, and the four-time bracelet winner is no stranger to Main Event success. His career accomplishments include two final tables in this event, coming in ninth in 2005 for a career-best $1,000,000 payday, and sixth in 2001 for $239,765.

The legendary character also finished 30th in 2008 ($193,000) and 87th in 2004 ($20,000). A deep run in the 2019 Main Event would no doubt be quite a story.
