Messick Shoves on Greenwood

Niveau 26 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante

In what looked like a three-bet pot with about 1.4 million in the middle, Sam Greenwood checked in the big blind and Michael Messick checked in the cutoff to bring the turn out. The board now read {a-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{a-Hearts} and Greenwood bet 350,000. Messick stacked all but his last T5,000 chip and slid them in, and Greenwood folded instantly.

Esfandiari Bluffs Into the Nuts

Niveau 26 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante
Antonio Esfandiari
Antonio Esfandiari

Action folded around to Christopher Ahrens in the small blind and he limped. Antonio Esfandiari was in the big and exercised his option with a raise to 285,000. Ahrens called and the flop came down {6-Spades}{k-Clubs}{10-Spades}, which both players checked.

After the dealer burned and turned the {2-Spades}, Ahrens led out for 350,000 and Esfandiari called.

On the {9-Spades} river, which put four spades on board, Ahrens bet just 300,000. Esfandiari thought for a bit before moving all in and Ahrens snap-called off for 1.67 million total.

Esfandiari showed the {10-Hearts}{5-Hearts} for just a pair of tens while Ahrens rolled over the {a-Spades}{8-Spades} for a flush, which he had made on the turn.

Greenwood Flops Quads

Niveau 26 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante

Sam Greenwood bet 150,000 into nearly 600,000 on {q-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{q-Hearts} from early position. Timothy Su called in the cutoff and the {k-Diamonds} was checked through. On the {7-Spades} river, Greenwood bet 860,000. Su thought about a minute and clumsily tossed a chip in. Greenwood revealed {q-Diamonds}{q-Spades} for flopped quads.

"How hard were you hoping for a heart or a ten on the river?" Adedapo Ajayi asked with a laugh.

"I thought the king might be good," Greenwood said with a smile.

Preben Stokkan
Preben Stokkan

The action folded to Preben Stokkan in the cutoff who shipped all in for 1,460,000. Christopher Wynkoop asked for a count on the button and then made the call. The blinds folded and the two hands were tabled.

Preben Stokkan: {q-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}
Christopher Wynkoop: {9-Spades}{9-Hearts}

Stokkan was fortunate to find himself in a race situation and he took advantage of it when the flop came {j-Spades}{6-Hearts}{3-Clubs}. The {q-Clubs} on the turn gave Stokkan two pair and he held on through the {4-Diamonds} on the river to score another double up.

More for Schindler and Lewis

Niveau 26 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante

Jake Schindler more than doubled his short stack and then pushed a heads-up turn of {q-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{10-Spades} for his last 500,000. Christopher Wynkoop gave it some consideration and ended up folding.

One hand later, Tobias Duthweiler opened and called a three-bet to 450,000 by Austin Lewis. The flop came {j-Spades}{j-Clubs}c] and a continuation bet of Lewis did the trick to force a fold from Duthweiler.

Jeff Madsen Eliminated in 102nd Place ($59,295)

Niveau 26 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante
Jeff Madsen
Jeff Madsen

Jeff Madsen pushed all in for 1,615,000 in early position and Alex Winter re-shoved all in from the hijack. The rest of the table folded and the cards were face up in a classic race situation.

Jeff Madsen: {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}
Alex Winter: {q-Spades}{q-Hearts}

The flop of {j-Spades}{6-Spades}{4-Clubs} left Winter in the lead with his pair of queens. The {7-Spades} on the turn gave Winter the only flush draw which narrowed Madsen's outs even further. The river was the {a-Spades} which gave Madsen a pair of aces but Winter made his flush to send Madsen home.
