Trygve "FullSendWig" Leite Wins Event #75

The 2020 GGPoker World Series of Poker Online Bracelet Events have crowned another champion in Event #75: $300 Double Stack No Limit Hold'em. After an intense heads-up battle which lasted around one hour, Trygve "FullSendWig" Leite from Norway came out on top against Italy's Emanuele "BudSpencer" Monari to claim his maiden WSOP bracelet and top prize of $130,100.

As the festival on the GGNetwork is on the home stretch, the tenth and final tournament which counts towards the Asia Time Zone Events leaderboard turned out to he the biggest in terms of entries. A total of 3,552 entries created a prize pool of $991,008, the top 440 spots were paid.

Eventual champion Leite has already cashed in at least five events of the online festival and his deepest run was a 12th place in Event #61: $300 Monster Stack NLHE 6-Handed, which featured very similar circumstances. On the live poker circuit, Leite has cashed for nearly $150k according to his profile on The Hendon Mob and today's victory appears to be his biggest recorded payday so far.

Prior to this online festival, only five Norwegians had won a WSOP bracelet including two-time winner and legend of the game Thor Hansen, Sigurd Eskeland, Annette Obrestad and Espen Sandvik. Leite follows into these footsteps and has won the 7th bracelet for his home country.

Many well-known bracelet hunters hit the rail before the money, including Antoine Saout, Yuri Dzivielevski, Marvin "BeerPressure" Rettenmaier, Anson "Tara@0z" Tsang, Joao Vieira, Aaron Van Blarcum, Erik Seidel, Main Event Champion Ryan Riess and GGPoker Ambassador Daniel Negreanu.

Around halfway through the day’s play, a few competitors edged ahead of the pack, including “MR1SHNARK”, Joshua "thefreshest" Mccully, “Brainfwaves”, Michael “H3R0” Acevedo and Ivan “Negriin” Vilchez. All were to run deep (McCully finished 38th for $2,445, “MR1SHNARK” 25th and "Brainfwaves" 22nd for $3,431 respectively while Acevedo made the last two tables), but the final was to be dominated at its start by two later-stage stack builders, Anjali "Iwanashipit" Agrawal and Emanuele "BudSpencer" Monari.

Notable pre-final cashes included those of Dara O’Kearney (who’d made the money with just 1.5 big blinds), Rob “Livia” Hollink (95th for $1,312), Patrick “CocoTheDog” Mahoney (58th for $1,744), Chris Moorman (43rd for $2,445), Jody “JagOff” Fayant (32nd for $2,445), Anton “storytellerA” Morgenstern (23rd for $3,431) and Maximiliano “TheChosen1” Veyga (19th for $3,431).

With two tables remaining, it was Mario "xxmmarioxx" Mosboeck who, despite doubling eventual finalist Eliyahu "yaldon" Elyshiv, maintained a leading stack of over 25,000,000, eliminating both Veyga and Blake “Beast2018!” Bohn (14th for $4,813). However, the biggest flip of the tournament thus far was to hand Emanuele "BudSpencer" Monari a stack of nearly 50,000,000 and end Mosboeck’s bracelet ambitions. A single preflop all-in match-up between Mosboeck’s ace-king and Monari’s pocket tens propelled the Italian to the top of the counts and his opponent hit the rail in 11th place ($6,753).

Monari also burst the final table bubble, busting short stack Seungmook “7high” Jung (10th for $6,753) and began the nine-handed fight with only Trygve “FullSendWig” Leite close to him in chips. For all the drama to come, these two players would maintain (and swap) the chip lead for most of the final table.

Connor Drinan
Connor Drinan

Connor Drinan was first to be eliminated from the multinational final, running fives into Leite’s aces preflop (it should be mentioned that Leite came out swinging on the final, winning the first two hands with preflop aggression before Drinan took his last stand). David “Stoic123” Mitchell followed him out in 8th ($13,290), having patiently waited for a spot – and a hand – with which to commit his short stack. That hand was ace-ten off-suit, picked off by a set-flopping Eliyahu "yaldon" Elyshiv with pocket eights.

Jiahuan "brahms" He exited in 7th place ($18,643) after moving in for on the button with a pair of threes (in much the same chip position as Mitchell) only to find Leite in the small blind with fives. Paul “Pistolero99” Lozano, too, fell in similar fashion as he shoved with jack-king from the small blind and found big blind Leite with ace-ten.

Although Anjali "Iwanashipit" Agrawal had tangled repeatedly with now-leading Leite, he took a back seat to the action as Gregory “C0bb” Ronaldson was eliminated by a resurgent Monari. Another player down to finding a good shoving spot, Ronaldson’s preflop jam with ace-five was called by Monari with ace-seven; the kickers played and Ronaldson finished 5th ($36,689). Monari continued his bid to retake the chip lead by busting Elyshiv, who, with under 10 million chips remaining, also found a committing hand: king-ten off-suit. Monari took him on with ace-seven, which held to bring the final to its penultimate elimination.

Agrawal faced his two now deep-stacked opponents with just 14 big blinds, and though he won several small skirmishes in an attempt to build back, his final all-in move with jack-eight was called by Leite with ace-king. His failure to outdraw big slick gave him 3rd place and $72,204.

Heads up, Leite started out relentlessly eating away at Monari’s stack, but the Italian’s occasional large shoves were well-timed, and they both enjoyed streaks of multiple pots in a row. Though Monari almost drew level with Leite after a level of one-on-one play, his opponent finally got the better of him on the river of the final hand (a rivered two pair for Monari handing Leite a queen-high straight). Monari's runner-up finish came with a payday of $101,292.01 while Leite took home coveted WSOP gold and $130,099.98.

Emanuele "BudSpencer" Monari Eliminated in 2nd Place ($101,292)

Niveau 39 : 800,000/1,600,000, 200,000 ante

Emanuele "BudSpencer" Monari limp-called a raise to 6.4 million by Trygve "FullSendWig" Leite and they headed to the {q-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{5-Spades} flop, on which Leite bet 4.356 million and was called by Monari.

Leite also bet the {j-Clubs} turn for 16.434 million into a pot of 21.912 milllion, Monari called once more. Both players had five seconds left on their time bank on the {8-Diamonds} river and Leite now checked.

Monari moved all in for the last 44,617,657 and Leite snap-called to get shown {q-Clubs}{8-Clubs} for a rivered two pair by Monari. It was no good as the very same card gave Leite with the {10-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} the nut straight and ended the tournament in his favour.

Leite: Check-Call, Check-Call, Check-Raise

Niveau 39 : 800,000/1,600,000, 200,000 ante

After a few button raise-and-take-its, Emanuele "BudSpencer" Monari limped his button and saw a flop with Trygve "FullSendWig" Leite, who checked behind. Leite check-called 1,600,000 on the {2-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{8-Spades} flop, seeing an {a-Hearts} turn. Again, Leite check-called, this time 6,080,000. The river brought the {4-Hearts} and, following the pattern, a check from Leite. Monari bet 6,408,000. Ticking down what was left of the timebank (not much, for either of them), Leite then raised to 20,976,000. This bet was uncalled and Leite retains his somewhat smaller chip lead.

Monari Nearly Closes the Gap

Niveau 38 : 600,000/1,200,000, 150,000 ante

Trygve "FullSendWig" Leite raised to his usual 3 million on the button and this time, Emanuele "BudSpencer" Monari three-bet to 11.76 million. Leite came along and Monari bet 7.146 million into 23.82 million on the {9-Clubs}{8-Spades}{4-Hearts} flop, Leite min-raised to 14,292 million.

Monari invested all but his last 12 seconds of time bank and called to see the {9-Diamonds} on the turn, on which he opted to check. Leite checked back to the {10-Clubs} river and Monari checked once more, as did Leite after some consideration.

Monari only had {q-Spades}{4-Diamonds} for nines and fours but that still won the big pot, as Leite revealed {j-Hearts}{3-Hearts} for air.

Monari Jams Once More

Niveau 38 : 600,000/1,200,000, 150,000 ante

A button raise to 3 million by Trygve "FullSendWig" Leite kicked off the action as Emanuele "BudSpencer" Monari defended the big blind. Unlike previous hands, Monari check-called the {k-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{3-Clubs} flop for 3.15 million and check-jammed the {10-Hearts} turn for more than 38 million.

Leite had invested another 6.3 million and gave it some thought before folding.

Niveau 38 : 600,000/1,200,000, 150,000 ante

Amongst some uncontested preflop pots, Trygve "FullSendWig" Leite raised to 3,000,000 and picked up a call from Emanuele "BudSpencer" Monari. Both players checked the {10-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{5-Spades} flop, but Monari folded when Leite bet 7,200,000 on the {a-Hearts} turn.

Monari then raised his button to 2,640,000. Leite upped the bet to 7,680,000. The all-in move was the next, and last, action in the hand: Monari’s remaining 36,443,657 total chips were too many for Leite to call.

Superior Two Pair for Leite

Niveau 38 : 600,000/1,200,000, 150,000 ante

The usual heads-up action commenced as a button raise to 3 million by Trygve "FullSendWig" Leite was called by Emanuele "BudSpencer" Monari. On the {7-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} flop, Monari check-raised from 2.079 million to 6.12 million and Leite tossed in the additional chips as he did in previous hands.

On the {q-Hearts} turn, Monari bet 5.562 million to pick up a call and the {5-Hearts} river then paired the board. Monari checked and Leite reluctantly checked behind to turn over the {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades} for queens and fives. Monari only had {4-Spades}{4-Clubs} for inferior two pair and a busted gutshot to fall further behind.

Monari Drags In Another Two Pots

Niveau 38 : 600,000/1,200,000, 150,000 ante

Trygve "FullSendWig" Leite made it 3 million to go from the button and was called by Emanuele "BudSpencer" Monari in the big blind. On the {k-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{4-Spades} flop, Monari check-raised from 2.079 million to 6.12 million which resulted in a call.

The {q-Hearts} appeared on the turn and Monari now made it 13.56 million to go, which earned him the next pot without any further resistance.

One hand later, a limped pot led to the {j-Hearts}{3-Spades}{2-Hearts} flop and Leite check-called a bet of 1.2 million. He did so again for 3.72 million on the {6-Diamonds} turn and the {4-Spades} river was checked. Leite tabled {9-Spades}{3-Diamonds} for a pair of treys but Monari had the best of it with {9-Hearts}{6-Spades}, which earned the seventh pot in a row for the Italian.
