WSOP GGpoker
WSOP GGpoker

Event #81: People's Choice Event [Spin the Wheel] employed a unique format to set up the game. With no preset format, they determined the structure of Event #81 based on random spins of a prize wheel. Once they were done, the format for #81 was set at 6-handed no limit hold'em bounty with a $1,050 buy-in.

With the format set, players are getting ready to go. They'll start the event with 25,000 in chips, and play 15 minute levels until a winner is decided later today.

With about an hour to go till cards go in the air, there are about 200 players waiting for the starter's gun. Among them are GGPoker ambassadors Pete Chen, Sergey Rybachenko, Daniel Negreanu, and Danny Tang, as well GGPoker streamers Niklas "NikkyMouse" Ehrenholz, Bluffpatrol_Rapha, Kevin Martin, Patrick "Egption" Tardif, and Henri Buehler.

Actions gets going at 2 p.m. eastern time, and PokerNews will be here all day to bring you the excitement as they play down to a winner.

WSOP Legend: Two-Time Main Event Champ Johnny Chan

Niveau 11 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
WSOP Legend Johnny Chan
WSOP Legend Johnny Chan

Success in the WSOP Main Event is the dream of pretty much every tournament poker player. Some have achieved that dream, making it to the final table and competing on the grandest stage the game has to offer. A select few have had the fortune of winning, immortalizing themselves on banners that hang on the walls of the Amazon Room every year.

No player, however, can match the incredible three-year run put together by Johnny Chan.

A 10-time bracelet winner and participant in high-stakes cash games both televised and not during his career, Chan has plenty to point to when it comes to poker plaudits. But no matter what he accomplishes in this game, it seems more likely than not that he'll be most remembered for what he did in the WSOP Main Event from 1987-1989.
