Carter Busts Right Before the Money

Blinds: 3,000/6,000

After a raise to 18,000 from Kent "rushaakkandqq" Lundmark, Michael "MarathonOG" Carter reraised to 63,000, a bet that was worth half his stack. Lundmark made the call, and after the flop came down {k-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}, Lundmark bet pot to set Carter all in.

Carter thought for a bit before calling with {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}{k-Spades}{5-Clubs}, and he was well ahead of the {j-Clubs}{j-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{2-Spades} of Lundmark. Carter needed to fade just a queen or jack, but the {q-Diamonds} came right on the turn. Carter still had outs, but the {a-Clubs} river that gave him trips was not good enough.

With that elimination, hand for hand play has begun.

Ichinose Scores an Early Double Up

Blinds: 2,500/5,000

In a battle of the blinds, Kosei Ichinose and Niki "everyhand" Nurmisto were heads up on a flop of {9-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}. Ichinose checked to Nurmisto, who bet full pot, 33,400. Ichinose check raised all in for just under 90,000, and Nurmisto called with {k-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}. The queens were behind the {9-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{6-Spades}{4-Spades} of Ichinose, and a nine on the turn gave him a full house.

A queen on the river would give Nurmisto the pot and bounty, but an ace came instead.

The $400 PLOSSUS Day 2 Finals Have Started!

It's time to get things going here in the Day 2 finals of the $400 PLOSSUS Event. The final number of Day 2 qualifiers is set at 584, but according to the current payout structure, only the top 500 will be finishing in the money today, so there will still be a money bubble to consider here.

Remember that this is a progressive bounty event, and it's Pot-Limit Omaha, so the action should be fast and furious all day long. We will post a list of big stacks and notable Day 2 chip counts shortly.

Daniel Negreanu Headlines the Day 2 PLOSSUS Field

Those who prefer playing with four cards instead of two are in for a treat today, as the Day 2 finals of the $400 PLOSSUS Event is set to kick off at 8:30 PM GMT. Leading the way in this latest 2021 GGPoker WSOP Online Event is none other than Daniel Negreanu, who has had the chip lead since one of the first flights earlier in the week. He is the only player with a stack over two million, a massive Day 2 starting stack of 433 big blinds.

Other notables who are still alive for this bracelet include Mark Herm (1,017,227), Nick Maimone (826,961), Joao Vieira (710,988), Adam Owen (649,379), and Niklas Astedt (515,318). All of them have above the average stack, which is currently at 388,000.

This is also a progressive bounty event, which means that all players have a bounty number on their heads. When they eliminate another player, they will earn half of that bounty right away, while the other half will be added to their own growing number. Negreanu's bounty is currently at $2,225, but Ashish "NewGambler" Gupta in second place actually has a higher number at $3,350.

The starting blind levels today will be 2,500/5,000 with a 600 ante, and all levels today will be 12 minutes long. There are currently 475 players who have qualified, but the final starting flight of the event is yet to finish, so that number will be finalized when the cards hit the air shortly.

As always, Pokernews will be here from the first hand until the last to bring you all of the updates, so be sure to come back at 8:30 PM GMT for all of the action!
