Obreshkov and Owen Headline Final 24 in Event #4: $800 DOUBLE CHANCE

Niveau 32 : 35,000/70,000, 8,500 ante
Stoyan Obreshkov
Stoyan Obreshkov

In a flash, the first day of Event #4 DOUBLE CHANCE in the 2021 GGPoker Online WSOP was over, as a field of 1,643 was whittled all the way down to just 24 players. Leading the way is Stoyan "UncleToni" Obreshkov, who will be bringing 7,121924 chips into the finals.

He got a good chunk of that on the last hand of the evening when he flopped a full house. Obreshkov is a familiar name in the poker circuit and finished in seventh place in the GGPoker WSOP $10,000 No-Limit Hold'em - International Main Event for $160,512 when they played in the King's Resort.

Adam Owen (4,182,692) is in the top five behind Obreshkov, and other notables still alive for this bracelet include Malcolm Trayner (4,450,624), Ivan Deyra (3,255,820), Tyler Hancock (1,447,448), Leonard Maue (1,441,763), and recent bracelet winner Bartlomiej "chester20o" Swieboda (627,762)

Plenty of big names came and went before the money was hit in this event, including Daniel Negreanu, Chris Moorman, Damian Salas, Bertrand Grospellier, Jeff Platt, and GGPoker Team Brazil member Felipe Ramos.

The action picks up once again on August 6th at 5 p.m. GMT, where the final 24 will play down to a winner. That player will turn a small investment of $800 into a first-place payday of $161,636, and the WSOP gold bracelet.

As always, PokerNews will be here to bring you all of the big hands, until a winner is decided, so come back then!

Obreshkov Wins Massive Final Hand With Full House

Niveau 32 : 35,000/70,000, 8,500 ante

The final hand of the evening saw chip leader Stoyan "UncleToni" Obreshkov go heads up with Bartlomiej "chester20o" Swieboda. The board had been dealt out {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{j-Spades}, and Obreshkov checked to Swieboda, who fired 225,000. Obreshkov thought for a while before check-raising to 975,000. Swieboda thought for a bit before calling, only to be shown {a-Spades}{9-Spades}, a full house from Obreshkov.

He will take a big lead into tomorrow's finals. Stay tuned for a full recap of today's play!

Swieboda Nears Three Million With Kings

Niveau 28 : 17,500/35,000, 4,500 ante

Sergio "TugaStalion" Coutinho moved all in for just two big blinds, and on the button, Bartlomiej "chester20o" Swieboda three bet to isolate. In the big blind, Mathias "Senor Perez" Siljander reraised to 350,000 and change. Swieboda called, and the flop came down {k-Clubs}{7-Spades}{3-Diamonds}.

Siljander continued for 238,000, Swieboda called, and the turn brought the {j-Clubs}.

This time, Siljander checked, and Swieboda fired 388,000. Siljander gave his hand up, and Swieboda showed a monster hand, {k-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}. Coutinho was drawing dead with a pair of sevens, and Swieboda rocketed up the leaderboard with that hand.

Ace-Queen Nets Koistinen a Million Chips

Niveau 28 : 17,500/35,000, 4,500 ante

Action folded around to the button, David "Mclovin86" Mzareulov, and he moved all in for his final 500,000. Mikael "Basunababy69" Koistinen was in the big blind, and made a big call for nearly 2/3 of his chips.

David "Mclovin86" Mzareulov: {a-Hearts}{8-Hearts}
Mikael "Basunababy69" Koistinen: {a-Clubs}{q-Spades}

Both players paired the {a-Spades}{10-Hearts}{5-Clubs} flop, but the queen kicker would stay in play through the {9-Clubs} turn and {k-Clubs} river.

Sammartino Scores a Knockout With Jacks

Niveau 22 : 5,000/10,000, 1,250 ante

Dario Sammartino raised to 24,000, and a few seats over, Jakub "Janusz1957PL" Michalak moved all in for 230,000. Action folded back to Sammartino, who called with {j-Diamonds}{j-Spades}. He was dominating the pocket tens of Michalak, and it went from bad to worse, as the flop came {a-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}. This left just one ten in the deck to help Michalak, but another diamond on the turn sealed the hand for Sammartino, who is now one of the chip leaders with just 170 players left.

Two Straight KOs for Chip Leader "jacky chun"

Niveau 14 : 1,250/2,500, 300 ante

"Ma3str0" looked to be in great shape for a double up against "jacky chun" holding {10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} on a board reading {10-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{7-Spades}. "jacky chun" held just {a-Spades}{7-Diamonds}, but an ace on the river gave "jacky chun" the winning hand in that 115,000 chip pot.

On the very next hand, "jacky chun" would raise, and then called the all in of Abhinav "OBellaCiao" Iyer, who held {a-Spades}{q-Hearts}. "jacky chun" showed two live cards with {k-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}, and they took the lead on the {7-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{2-Spades} flop. The script flipped on the {a-Hearts} turn, but it happened again when the {7-Spades} river gave "jacky chun" trips.

That hand makes "jacky chun" the first player over the half million chip marker.
