Lyons Scoops a Monster

Niveau 24 : 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante
Pat Lyons
Pat Lyons

Brian Nierkerk raised under the-gun to 80,000 and from the cutoff, Dana Katzenmeier went all-in for 315,000. Pat "World Famous," Lyons in the big blind thought about it briefly before calling the all-in. Niekerk re-raised all-in for 900,000 which Lyons snap-called and all cards were tabled.

Dana Katzenmeier: {k-Hearts}{10-Spades}
Pat Lyons: {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}
Brian Nierkerk: {k-Clubs}{k-Spades}

The board ran out {j-Spades}{2-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} and Lyons' aces held as he won a pot worth nearly 2 million chips, eliminated Katzenmeier and left Nierkerk with 90,000 in chips.

The very next hand, Lyons called the small blind and Nierkerk checked his option in the big blind.

The flop came out {9-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} and Lyons checked and Nierkerk shoved for 25,000. Lyons called and the cards were tabled.

Brian Nierkerk: {2-Spades}{2-Clubs}
Pat Lyons: {9-Diamonds}{6-Spades}

The board ran out {q-Clubs}{8-Spades} and Lyons' flopped pair of nines was good enough for the elimination.

Barry Greenstein

Barry Greenstein was all in preflop and was slightly covered by Stuart Taylor.

Barry Greenstein: {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts}
Stuart Taylor: {a-Clubs}{4-Clubs}

Greenstein was ahead but would need to avoid an ace. However the flop sent Taylor into the lead the unconventional way as it came {4-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} to give him trips and leave Greestein drawing thin.

The turn was the {k-Diamonds} and the river the {2-Hearts} to end Greenstein's run on Day 3.
