Malgré 7 places payées depuis le coup d'envoi de la 52e édition des World Series Of Poker, Romain Lewis attendait la grosse performance qui transforme un bon séjour en un excellent festival.
Pour la 5e finale WSOP de sa jeune carrière, le Français a remporté l'Event #76, un Super Bounty Turbo à 10.000$ l'entrée, à l'issue d'une finale bouclée en moins de deux heures. Le Team Pro Winamax encaisse 463,885$ (hors primes) et confirme la moisson tricolore sur ces WSOP!
Pierre Calamusa avait atteint la finale des deux premiers événements disputés au format Bounty Turbo du festival, son coéquipier Romain Lewis a pris la suite avec brio, se hissant en head's up pour la troisième fois de sa carrière... avant de conclure le travail en une vingtaine de minutes. Le Bordelais expatrié en Angleterre a dominé un field de 307 entrants en deux jours de poker.
“J'ai été très proche plusieurs fois il y a quelques années et j'étais vraiment vraiment heureux du résultat à ce moment là tout en me disant que c'était dur d'aller chercher le bracelet. Ces opportunités n'arrivent pas souvent", a confié le vainqueur à PokerNews.
"C'est un rêve depuis plus de dix ans et le résultat d'un process pour gagner suivi depuis cinq ou six années... je suis en extase", a ajouté le Français, aux anges. "C'est incroyable", a conclu le champion avant de rendre hommage aux "30 ou 40 amis de France qui se sont encouragés durant tout le festival". "A chaque fois qu'il y a un deep-run c'est une ambiance de stade de foot et nous amenons cet élément spécial et indispensable qui fait le sel des WSOP", a terminé Romain.
L'Indien Aditya Agarwal a joué son rôle de patron avant de trébucher sur l'ultime haie, il se consolera avec 286,705$ pour sa place de runner-up.
Le tricolore a lui navigué à la perfection, et a eu la réussite qu'il faut dans une finale disputée sur des niveaux de 20 minutes avec une moyenne à 19 blindes et un chipleader ayant 25 blindes à 7 left.

Dernier de la classe avec 6 blindes, l'Ukrainien Yevgeniy Timoshenko n'a fait qu'un court passage en finale. Il s'est empalé d'entrée sur Dario Sammartino en grosse blinde. L'Italien s'est réveillé avec les Dames pour faire le ménage mais il a fait doubler Stephen Chidwick quelques instants plus tard avec la même main.
L'Anglais a gagné le flip (et Uri Reichenstein a lui doublé dans la foulée contre le chipleader). Malgré le bounty à 3000$ de Timoshenko, Sammartino va donc quitter la partie en 6e position... après 15 minutes de finale.
Avec 22 blindes à la reprise et le deuxième tapis des finalistes, Barth Melius n'a pas existé et a sauté dès le changement de niveau, sorti par Aditya Agarwal, parfait dans le rôle du patron.
Pendant ce temps là, Romain Lewis grappillait des jetons ça et là en faisant tapis... sans trouver preneur. C'est finalement Stephen Chidwick qui va doubler contre Reichenstein, ce dernier rendant les armes dans la foulée.
Le plan à 3 pouvait commencer avec un Agarwal au top (26,5bb) et une grosse blinde à 400 000 jetons. Avec respectivement 12,5 et 8,5 blindes, la marge de manoeuvre était réduite pour Chidwick et le Français.
Déjà vainqueur WSOP, Chidwick va doubler une première fois avant de finalement 3-bet shove dans les 
de Agarwal... et de rendre les armes. Romain Lewis atteignait alors son 3e head's up WSOP, après une finale de 90 minutes !

Dès la deuxième main du duel, Romain Lewis va doubler pour passer en tête devant un rail en folie... et se retrouver à tapis sur la main suivante avec le bracelet au bout! Avec

Une augmentation de blindes et Agarwal tombait à 20 blindes contre 17 pour le tricolore encouragé par un rail bruyant. Romain Lewis ganait ensuite le flip d'une vie, avec

A l'issue de ce coup, le jeune tricolore possédait 31 blindes contre 5 à son adversaire. Romain Lewis va finalement tout mettre avec
