Timothy West Eliminated in 24th Place ($4,629)

Niveau 24 : 25,000/50,000, 0 ante
Timothy West
Timothy West

Timothy West raised on the button with his short stack and took down the blinds. He was disappointed as he tabled {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}.

The following hand, West raised again, this time in the cutoff and both Lee Markholt and Christoph Kwon called in the blinds.

The dealer spread a flop of {9-Clubs}{9-Spades}{5-Clubs}, and Markholt led out with a bet, Kwon quickly folded and West raised. Markholt took some time thinking about his options as he said, "I could have some outs." Before putting in another raise which was enough for West to be all-in when he called.

Timothy West: {a-Clubs}{6-Clubs}
Lee Markholt: {a-Hearts}{8-Clubs}

West had a flush draw but was still behind Markholt's kicker on the ace. The turn brought the {10-Hearts} as West pleaded, "King!, Queen!", asking just for a chop pot but the {2-Diamonds} fell on the river for his six-kicker to be no good. West collected $4,629 for his 24th place finish.

Hammer Triples Up

Niveau 24 : 25,000/50,000, 0 ante

Fred Lavassani raised before Joe McKeehen re-raised from the button. In the small blind, James Hammer moved all in for his last 100,000 and both players called.

Lavassani called two bets from McKeehen as the board ran out {8-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{8-Spades} and turned over {a-Spades}{k-Clubs} for ace-high. McKeehen mucked, but Hammer showed {a-Diamonds}{j-Spades} for the turned pair of jacks to secure the triple-up.

Ross Flops the Nuts

Niveau 24 : 25,000/50,000, 0 ante

Heads-up to the flop of {8-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{q-Spades}, Michael Moncek checked to Ben Ross who put out a bet. Moncek then raised and Ross called.

Moncek bet again on the {2-Clubs} turn and Ross raised. Moncek called to see the {4-Hearts} when he led out again.

Ross raised again and Moncek quickly called. Ross turned over {10-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} for the flopped straight and Moncek mucked.

As Ross was collecting the pot, a loud cheer was heard from another tournament in the room. "Yeah. I have a cheering section now," Ross said.

At the same time as David Gee's elimination, Roy Sanam was all in on the other table.

According to his former tablemates, Sanam flopped a set of deuces on the {5-}{3-}{2-} and was up against the aces of Ben Ross and the sixes of Steven Wolansky. The turn came a {4-}, giving both Ross and Wolansky a straight, and Sanam failed to pair up on the river to make a full house.

Wolansky won the pot with his six-high straight and Sanam was knocked out in 25th place.

David Gee
David Gee

Lee Markholt raised pre-flop before Mike Picardi re-raised on the button. In the big blind, David Gee moved all in and both players called.

The flop came {3-Spades}{a-Spades}{9-Diamonds} and Markholt checked. Picardi bet and Markholt raised enough to put him all in. Picardi called.

David Gee: {5-Hearts}{4-Hearts}
Mike Picardi: {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades}
Lee Markholt: {9-Spades}{8-Hearts}

Picardi was ahead with his pair of aces against Markholt's nines and Gee's straight draw. The {3-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} turn and river gave Picardi the double up through Markholt and the bust out of Gee in 26th place.
