Schwartz Applying Pressure

Niveau 7 : 400/800, 1,200 ante

Tom McCormick raised to 3,000 from the button and Jake Schwartz called in the big blind.

Schwartz drew one while McCormick stood pat. First to act, Schwartz put out a big bet of 10,500. McCormick had an anguished look on his face as he considered the call, while Schwartz sat calmly drinking from his water bottle.

McCormick eventually slid his cards back to the dealer and Schwartz, last year's runner-up in this event, took in the pot.

Aldemir Triples Up

Niveau 7 : 400/800, 1,200 ante
Koray Aldemir
Koray Aldemir

Koray Aldemir was on a short stack and moved all in for 8,200 from the cutoff. Kenneth Po called on the button and Steve Zolotow also called in the big blind.

Zolotow and Aldemir each drew one, and Po stood pat. Zolotow and Po each checked and the hands were revealed...

Koray Aldemir: {10-}{6-}{5-}{4-}{2-}
Kenneth Po: {j-}{6-}{5-}{4-}{2-}
Steve Zolotow: {j-}{7-}{5-}{4-}{2-}

Aldemir's ten beat both his opponent's jacks and he dragged a nice pot to return to near its starting level.

Danzer Dragging Pots

Niveau 7 : 400/800, 1,200 ante
George Danzer
George Danzer

George Danzer hasn't played much at the WSOP since winning Player of the Year in 2014, with no cashes since 2016. But his familiar mohawk has been spotted in the field today, and he's already showing no signs of rust.

In his last hand, a player raised to 2,000 from under the gun and fellow former Player of the Year Tom Schneider called on the button. Danzer came along from the big blind and took two, as did Schneider.

First to act after the draw, Danzer put out a bet of 5,000 and both his opponents quickly mucked.

Beginner's Luck Runs Out for Raz

Niveau 6 : 300/600, 900 ante
Yanni Raz
Yanni Raz

Yanni Raz had his last 6,000 in the middle before the draw and was up against Justin Geary.

Raz pushed two cards toward the dealer. "Are you drawing two," Geary asked.

"I have low cards. I don't know," Raz, who says he doesn't know how to play the game and only entered the tournament by accident, replied.

Geary showed J-10-9 while Raz had 5-3-2 awaiting his last two cards. He paired his three and was eliminated, his quick lesson in 2-7 Lowball coming to an end.

Vengrin Doubles Up Before Break

Niveau 6 : 300/600, 900 ante
Matt Vengrin
Matt Vengrin

Matt Vengrin just passed along a big hand from before the break that saw him enjoy a quick double-up to start his day.

After the player in the cutoff raised to 2,000, Vengrin three-bet to 8,000.

Action folded back to the cutoff who moved all in for Vengrin's 22,000 effective.

Vengrin made the call and after the cutoff instantly stood pat, Vengrin told PokerNews that he broke a rough ten.

The cutoff showed {10-}{9-}{8-}{3-}{2-} and Vengrin drew a four to make {9-}{8-}{6-}{4-}{2-} for the winner to boost his stack to double its starting size.

Brunson Inciner-EIGHT-ing Faces

Niveau 6 : 300/600, 900 ante
Todd Brunson
Todd Brunson

Earier in the day, Todd Brunson tweeted about a hand where he eliminated a player and "incinerated his face" in the process...

The incinerations are continuing with another victim falling to a Brunson pat hand.

After Yanni Raz opened to 2,400 in early position a player in the hijack and a player in the cutoff both called.

Brunson then lit the incineration torch with a three-bet to 9,400.

Raz folded but the hijack then moved all in for 16,500.

The cutoff folded, then Brunson cranked the gas on his torch and called.

The hijack drew one and Brunson rolled over what a tablemate said was his sixth pat eight or better with {8-}{7-}{6-}{4-}{3-}.

The hijack could only make {10-}{8-}{6-}{3-}{2-} and his face along with his chip stack was incinerated as Brunson approaches the 100,000 chip mark.
