Day 2 of Event #30: $1,000 Pot-Limit Omaha 8-Handed has concluded with only 10 players remaining from an original field of 1,891. Day 2 saw 108 hopefuls return for their bid to make the final table. The original plan was to play down to the final six players, however, the decision was made to stop at the end of Level 27 instead. Day 3 resumes at noon on June 16 and continues until a champion is crowned.

Ending the day with the chip lead was none other than Daniel Weinman with 6,420,000 chips, or 64 big blinds if you prefer. Weinman is a WSOP Circuit ring winner and has come close to securing a coveted WSOP bracelet several times, but one still eludes him. Weinman now has another crack of the whip in this event.

Also through to the final day's proceedings are such luminaries as Chino Rheem (4,855,000), Stephen Song (2,665,000), and German grinder Oliver Weis (1,610,000), who online poker fans will know better as "sk2ll_m0dR".

Sanchez Doubles Through Rheem

Niveau 27 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante

Eduardo Bernal Sanchez from the cutoff bet 200,000 and was met with a raise of 640,000 by Chino Rheem in the big blind. Sanchez responded with a pot-sized bet of 1,960,000 leaving 800,000 behind.

Rheem made the call to see a flop of {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{7-Spades} and Sanchez moved his remaining 800,000 into the middle. Rheem said "It is so obvious that you have got top set. I have done dirtier!" and slammed calling chips on to the felt.

Eduardo Bernal Sanchez: {a-Clubs}{a-Spades}{9-Hearts}{6-Spades}
Chino Rheem: {a-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}

Rheem was correct with his assessment of the situation, but the {k-Diamonds} left Rheem drawing dead with shouts of "Vamos!" from Sanchez's rail. The {q-Diamonds} completed the board to give the Colombian a healthy stack for the final day of play.

Ryan Laplante Eliminated in 11th Place ($18,396)

Ryan Laplante

Ryan Laplante opened to 160,000 and Dan Weinman decided to come along.

On the {9-Spades}{10-Clubs}{a-Hearts} flop, Weinman check-called Laplante's bet of 300,000.

The turn {5-Hearts} saw a bet of 1,000,000 from Laplante, which Weinman called.

Then on the river {3-Clubs}, Laplante shipped his stack of 2,000,000 into the pot, and Weinman snap called and tabled {a-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{2-Spades} for a rivered wheel straight for the nuts.

"How the hell do you have that?" questioned Laplante as he showed {6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} for the blockers.

Laplante was eliminated in 11th place for $18,396.
