Chad Himmelspach is the current defending champion, having won $207,877 in last year's event along with his first WSOP bracelet. HImmelspach bested a field of 1,191 entries that ended in an intense three-hour heads-up battle against Stefan Reiser before being crowned as champion.

There will be a 75-minute dinner break after Level 9, at approximately 5:40 p.m. and the players will complete 17 levels before they call it a night and bag their chips for Day 2.
Late registration will be open until the end of the dinner break after Level 9 which should be around 6:55 p.m. if things kick off in time. As this event is a freezeout, reentries will not be possible for players who fail to win their final all-in.
